Cooking with a Wallflower

Recommendations Wallflower Weekly Faves

Wallflower Weekly Finds, 135

The weather has been absolutely perfect these past few weeks in San Francisco. It’s not too hot, not too cold. We’ve had daily sunny clear blue skies with only fog at night which burns off by early morning. It’s the perfect time for visiting.

I was standing in Russian Hill and had the most amazing views of the city. You can see Coit Tower in the distance.

Happy Monday!

It’s already the second day of October, and it’s starting to feel like fall is coming. Just a couple more weeks until knee high boots, comfy sweaters, and warm blanket scarves. I can’t wait until I see the leaves on the trees change colors and the ground covered in all shades of reds and oranges. And maybe some pumpkin picking too. Then of course, there’s all the food. Apple ciders, apple pie, pumpkin pie, salted caramel lattes.

Today, I wanted to share with you another toast recipe. I had this amazing toast not too long ago at a cafe downtown, and I really wanted to try to replicate it at home.

So this is my version of the toast I had awhile ago.

Happy Saturday!

It’s been so warm lately that I’ve been obsessed with Vietnamese desserts because they’re cold and refreshing? Have you ever had one before? If you haven’t, you really should try them.

I’m super excited about this weekend. Tonight, my sisters and a few friends are going to Tastemaker, San Francisco’s first nightclub for food lovers. Whatever that means. But good food, cocktails, mixology classes, music. Doesn’t that sound so much fun? I’ll share photos of the event afterwards. =)

Let’s talk serious for a few minutes.

I have a dilemma. I’m pretty sure someone took one of my photos, cropped it, and used it as their own.

Life of a Wallflower Recommendations Travel

Destination: Point Bonita Lighthouse

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if we only seek them with our eyes open.” – Jawaharlal Nehru

Point Bonita Lighthouse | Cooking with a Wallflower

Growing up in the Bay Area, sometimes I forget just how amazing it is the place I live. There are so many different places to explore, so many new places to discover, and some of those places aren’t that far from San Francisco.

Point Bonita Lighthouse | Cooking with a Wallflower

When I think of traveling, I think of going to far away places. Places where you have to take planes, ships, or trains to get to or long roadtrips. But some of the most beautiful places are just outside of the city, right where you and I live. You just have to know where to look.

Is it odd that the moment it became officially fall it suddenly really feels like fall?

I know we’re still in September, but I’m already soo excited and ready for Halloween, for the leaves to change colors, for pumpkin desserts, for maple flavored everything, for apple cider, for Thanksgiving, and seriously, for some really good comfort food.

I wanted to start simple today. Something super easy to make yet so delicious.

I recently came across croissant buns while shopping for groceries and I became so obsessed with them. They’d be so perfect for breakfast, don’t you think? Especially for eggs benedict.

But today, I wanted to make croissant melts. These croissant sandwiches are filled with melted mozzarella, honey ham, thin slices of crisp, sweet, and tangy apples, and topped with a drizzle of honey. So simple yet filled with flavor and texture. It’s my kind of go to breakfast. Hopefully it’ll be yours too.

Happy first day of Fall!

It’s officially fall now! Can you believe it?

I can’t wait for all the things that fall brings. What are you most excited about fall? =)

Napa Valley

Have you ever been grape stomping?

My friend and I went to Napa Valley last weekend. One of the things we did was grape stomping at Grgich Hills Estate in Rutherford. Each person didn’t have that long to stomp grapes, maybe a couple minutes or so for the experience, but it was definitely fun. Plus, you get a T-shirt with your grape stained footprints to take home with you as a souvenir.

Honey Fig Burrata Toast | Cooking with a Wallflower

Just a couple more days, and it’ll officially be fall. I’m so excited. There are so many events coming up these next few weeks, and I can’t wait! Just last weekend, I was actually up in wine country for the day with a friend. Sipping sparkling wines while gazing out at the vineyard, enjoying delicious food at my favorite restaurant, stomping grapes, and indulging in rosé wine macarons. I’ll share all those adventures in a different post. =)

In the meantime, let’s talk about this honey fig burrata toast.

I’ve been obsessed with toast for like ever. There are so many different versions out there. And now, I’m trying to make my own. Breakfast, snack, appetizer. I want them all. And I want to share all of them with you.

Have you ever had burrata?

If you haven’t, you need to try it.

It’s soo soo good. Burrata is definitely pricier compared to mozzarella, but it’s so creamy and perfect for spreading onto toast. Topped with fresh ingredients, like baby lettuce and figs, it’s the perfect snack or light meal.

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend! It was the last weekend of summer. Can you believe it?

As much as I’ve going to miss all of the amazing summer produce, especially the berries and stone fruits, I am super excited about all the warm and cozy meals we’re about to share together in the fall.

Roasted Honey Sesame Brussels Sprouts | Cooking with a Wallflower

There’s something about fall meals that’s just so comforting. And it’s also my favorite time of year to cook and become inspired. There never seems to be enough time during the fall to share all the food I want to share! Trust me, I’m already thinking about Thanksgiving dinner. And um, Hallmark Christmas movies. Because for me, they go hand in hand.
