Cooking with a Wallflower

Recommendations Wallflower Weekly Faves

Less than a week left until fall!

Are you excited as I am? There’s something about fall that I just absolutely love. Maybe it’s all the cozy meals or maybe it’s all the festivities that come with fall. Whatever it is, I’m excited. And so ready for fall foods.

In the meantime, I’ve been stocking up on all of these tomatoes at the farmer’s market. My favorite are the gorgeous heirloom tomatoes and the super sweet dry farmed early girl tomatoes.

With summer coming to an end, and fall just around the corner, I feel like life has been so hectic lately. I’ve been going to bachelorette parties, bridal showers, birthday parties, weddings, and baby showers practically every weekend.

It’s so much harder to find time to cook your meals when your schedule is super tight. So I like dishes that are simple to make with very little to prep. A big bonus if they’re healthy, too. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with poke bowls. Partly because they’re easy to make, partly because they’re customizable, and partly because it’s the perfect healthy meal for those days when you have no time to cook.

It’s been such an eventful few days. My friend whom I’ve known since we were in elementary school got married over Labor Day weekend. The venue was soo gorgeous, but unfortunately, we had a heat wave that same weekend that was completely unexpected. Kohl Mansion is so pretty, but it wasn’t equipped with air conditioning. So we had to use fans to try to keep cool. Other than the heat, and a couple of hiccups in our schedule that couldn’t have been prevented, the wedding was so much fun. And I love that it’s a two day event. The second day wedding was basically a repeat of the reception, except less formal and less stressful.

Last weekend, I was at the dental convention. While I was there, I decided to explore local small coffee shops nearby and discovered Mazarine Coffee, which has all sorts of toast that you can order. I ended up getting the Tomato, Ricotta, Basil Toast. Now I have to make it at home. =)

Oh my gosh.

This Labor Day weekend is soo busy for me. My friend is getting married on Saturday, but technically the festivities started already with rehearsals on Thursday night. I’m excited yet kind of nervous. I’ve never been part of a wedding before so I’m worried that some how some way, I’ll make a mistake, ruin the wedding, and be forever remembered for it on video. Does anyone get those types of nightmares? lol

Do you have any plans for Labor Day weekend?
