Blogging Tips: Styling Photos

Welcome back to my Blogging Tips series!

In today’s post, I wanted to talk about styling photos. My pictures are all food based, of course, since I run a food blog. But it doesn’t matter what kind of blog you have. Because photos are super important to any blog. What attracts people to a blog through social media (Pinterest, Facebook, etc), emails, and blog readers (BlogLovin, RSS feeds) are the photos. The better the photos, the more likely people are going to visit.

Blogging Tips - Styling Photos

I’ll be honest. I know many of you have been waiting for me to talk more about photography, how I go about taking photos, and what camera I use. And I’m super nervous about writing this because I don’t think what I’m about to say is what you’re expecting.

If you’ve asked me about photography before, then I think you already know what I’m about to say.

Basil Garlic Noodle

Garlicky, buttery, slightly spicy noodles tossed with sliced mushrooms and refreshing basil for a tasty Asian inspired dish. Each bite will be bursting with flavors, keeping you hooked until there’s nothing left on that plate.

Basil Garlic Noodle | Cooking with a Wallflower

For those of you who have followed me these several months, you know that I love my noodles. Serve me noodles, and I’ll be happy. I also love love love my garlic. I like to add garlic to all my dishes. Well, within reason, of course. I don’t think you’d appreciate it if I added garlic to my desserts. I wouldn’t either. But oh my gosh, two of my favorite ingredients together in one dish? Drool worthy.

While this dish is somewhat similar to my Spicy Garlic Noodle, it has an Asian twist. This Asian inspired pasta dish tastes absolutely amazing. You have the aromatic flavor of garlic, the refreshing fragrance of basil, sliced mushrooms, and just a little bit spicy from the chili pepper. It’s soo good, especially with the addition of tamari. I could sit there and eat this all day long without sharing, that’s how much I like this dish.

Shrimp Mango Salad | Cooking with a Wallflower

I hope you’re in the mood for something a little different this weekend! Have you ever tried a mango salad at a Thai or Vietnamese restaurant? Or even a papaya salad? They’re pretty similar.

Most of the time, we eat mangoes without any enhancements (although it’s really good with Tajin seasoning too, just saying). Mangoes are so sweet and juicy they don’t need anything else to make them wonderful. You can find mango in salsa or even as an add on for salads. But have you ever had mango as the main ingredient in a salad? Or have you ever used green mango? They’re the ones that are firm and aren’t quite ripe yet? No? Then you are missing out! Life of a Wallflower Part 7 – Playing the Tourist

It’s been one of those weeks… The kitchen pipe burst, water spilled everywhere, and it’s taking awhile for the landlord to fix the issue…

But anyway, how was everyone’s Mother’s Day weekend? This post comes a little late but I’ve been so busy these last few days I haven’t had time to write. On top of that, it’s been soo hot in San Francisco. I don’t want to cook or do anything that generates heat. All I want to do is eat cold watermelon and drink icy water.

I’ll leave you with photos of my weekend and parts of my #100HappyDays week. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen some of these photos already. =)

We have guests from Australia visiting. And since we live in San Francisco, we played tour guides to San Francisco’s famous landmarks. Although to be honest, I was playing the part of the tourist.

We visited the Golden Gate Bridge to take pictures. Living in SF, I rarely do touristy activities like visiting the bridge, or Fisherman’s Wharf, or Chinatown. I avoid these places because it’s too crowded.
