Fall is here! Fall is here! Yay!

Can you believe it? We’re already into October, and yet I feel like 2015 just started yesterday. What!

But now it officially feels like fall because how can we be in October and not be in fall, right? What I love most about this season is seeing the leaves change into so many different colors. I actually go out of my way to see them because if you live in SF, you get zilch. Oh, and of course, how can I forget my love for all the great food that’ll end up on the Thanksgiving table? What do you look forward to most in fall?

Today, I’m introducing to you a fall comfort dish.

Creamy Pesto Gnocchi with Seasonal Vegetables | Cooking with a Wallflower

I can’t believe it took me this long to finally make another gnocchi dish!

Gnocchi is one of those pastas that I’m kind of addicted to. Not that that says much since I love pasta of all kinds. It’s an addiction I find impossible to kick.

Creamy Basil Pesto Dip | Cooking with a Wallflower

I love dips and spreads. I really like swirling my chips and crackers in different dips and spreads. There’s something so fun about it, maybe it’s because I get to play with my food. Is it just me?

This creamy basil pesto is one of my favorites. The creaminess of the cream cheese, the refreshing taste of basil, and the simplicity of it all.

Creamy Basil Pesto Dip | Cooking with a Wallflower

This dip is so easy to make. You can either make your own fresh basil pesto or use a store bought one. But whichever way you want to do it, it’ll take you less than 10 minutes. Seriously.

I’ve used this creamy basil pesto dip as a spread for my bagels, a spread for crusty breads, and well, a dip for my crackers as you can see in the photos. And considering all these fall celebrations coming up, don’t you think it’d be the perfect time to have a favorite dip recipe ready?

Pumpkin Pie Maple Oatmeal with Granola and Cranberries | Cooking with a Wallflower

This is what breakfast should be every morning. I can’t imagine a better way to wake up in the morning. On days that I work, I’m usually up at 5:30-6:00. The sun is slow to rise in the fall, the morning air is chilly. So a delicious warm bowl of oatmeal is the perfect way to start the day and give me that push out the door.

The creaminess of the almond milk, the sweetness from the maple syrup, the fall flavor of pumpkin, the crunchy granola, and the sweet dried cranberries. So many flavors and textures, most of which represent fall. Even better, this breakfast takes only a few minutes to make. And while this recipe is for one, because I wake up the earliest and the oatmeal isn’t as good if it sits out for awhile, you can definitely easily adjust the recipe to create more servings.

How gorgeous is this oatmeal? All that color.

Have you seen Starbucks’ Teavana’s Fall teas? They’re supposed to be inspired by hard cider.

When I heard about them, I knew I had to give them a try. My friend and I visited the Teavana store to try these teas. And it was definitely interesting to taste all the different spices in the teas. You can try them for free by visiting the store.

You guys! Have you heard of 100 Happy Days challenge? Last year, I participated through Instagram. Basically, for 100 days straight, post a photo of what makes you happy on your social media account. It could be that early morning coffee, or that blooming flower in your garden, or that first leaf to change colors. Whatever makes you happy. It seems like a small thing, but when you look back, you realize all the little things that brighten up your day. And it’s so rewarding.

As of today, September 22, there are exactly 100 days left of 2015. Will you take the challenge with me? I’ll be posting photos on Instagram =)

Oh my gosh. I love it when my entire meal can fit into one bowl.

The sides, the entrees, the sauce. It’s everything in a single bowl. All you have to do is mix and eat.

There are so many variations of these bowls now. You can take your pick depending on what you like. There are burrito bowls, burger in a bowl, poke bowl, bento bowls. And the latest trend? Quinoa bowls.

A little over a month ago, I wrote about my trip to Napa Valley and gushed over the delicious food. I don’t think I’ve stopped yet.

One of the places I visited during my stay was a farm to table restaurant called Farmstead. All the dishes I tried there were unbelievably amazing because everything seemed to be cooked to perfection. So when a friend had her wedding in Sonoma two weeks ago, I couldn’t resist going back to Farmstead for another farm to table meal. And if you’re ever in St Helena, you really should give Farmstead a try. I think it’s become my favorite restaurant =)

But even though Napa Valley isn’t too far outside of San Francisco, it’s not very convenient to drive almost one and a half hours for lunch or dinner.

Which means, I better start trying to recreate these recipes at home.
