Happy Sunday!

Can we talk about the love I have for cauliflower? Especially when it’s roasted? It’s not a new thing, this love for cauliflower. But it was definitely renewed after my recent trip to New Orleans.

The fun part about traveling when you’re a food blogger is that so many things can inspire you. Every place that you travel to will have their unique and distinct dishes. New Orleans happens to have so much to offer in terms of delicious food and fun inspirations. Almost every meal I had made me want to return home and replicate it.

I can’t believe it’s been almost a week since I’ve come back from my vacation in New Orleans. I’ll share more photos at a later time, but one of my favorite parts of the trip was getting to indulge in beignets. There are Southern comfort food and Cajun restaurants in San Francisco that offer beignets. But the thing is, it’s just not the same as the beignets in New Orleans.

Cafe du Monde Beignets

So during our stay in New Orleans, is it any surprise that we overindulged in beignets? We had beignets three separate times over the week. lol. My favorite still remains to be the original Cafe du Monde location. Service is definitely not amazing. But the beignets are soo worth the crowds, the sticky ground, and the bad service. So is the coffee. And I don’t even drink coffee. lol.

I’m home from vacation for a few days now, and I wish I was still on vacation. As always. I spent almost a whole week indulging in southern comfort food and eating to my heart’s content, or more accurately, my stomach’s content, all the crawfish and beignets that I’ve been craving and dreaming of for years. We have Cajun restaurants in the Bay Area, but it’s just not the same! If you haven’t been to New Orleans before, I highly recommend it. The most amazing food, the most beautiful architecture. Foodie heaven. And a week was just NOT enough.

That said, southern comfort food can be really heavy. Halfway through the week, I felt like I needed lighter meals. Something that wasn’t fried, something that wasn’t covered in loads of butter. lol. Now that I’m home, I feel like I need lighter meals, at least for the next few weeks.

I’m actually on my way to New Orleans today. I’m super excited for vacation time. But I was a little stressed out when I discovered that our flight was canceled earlier this week. My sister and I had to frantically rebook our flights especially when we discovered that most flights leaving today were already fully booked. Luckily, there was one left. But it was soo early in the morning.

My birthday was on Friday so I’ve been celebrating with family and friends. My family went to Benihana for a hibachi dinner on Friday night. I have never eaten there before and didn’t realize just how entertaining it can be. The entire dinner was a show in itself and I loved it. Have you been?
