Cooking with a Wallflower

Happy early Labor Day weekend!

I’m actually headed to Southern California tonight after work! And I’m spending the whole weekend down in LA doing touristy things. My sisters and I go down to Southern California relatively often, but we’re usually in the surrounding areas and rarely ever in LA itself. So this time, we’re going to explore LA. If you have recommendations, definitely send them my way.

Black Currant and Lychee Curd Donut

Earlier this week, I stopped at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse specifically for this Black Currant and Lychee Curd Donut. It was this month’s special. So I had to try it before they retire the flavor. And it was soo worth the trouble of stopping by super early before work.

Just counting down the days till the weekend! I can’t believe that there’s just a few more days left of August. My month wasn’t as packed as it was in July, but it definitely flew by pretty fast.

And as much as I’m going to miss all the stone fruits and sweet berries readily available at the farmer’s market, I am definitely looking forward to fall. Warmer weather in San Francisco, leaves changing colors (outside the Bay Area), plaid shirts, distressed jeans, knee high boots, and blanket scarves.

Anyways, remember how the other day I mentioned that the candied walnuts would lead to something more? THIS is it. Honey Walnut Shrimp, my most favorite dish at Chinese restaurants.

Happy Sunday!

I’m counting down the days until Labor Day weekend! It’s been kind of stressful at work so I’m looking forward to getting away for a few days. Plus, leaving the fog behind for sunny Southern California sounds pretty amazing right now. lol.

While I’m daydreaming about Hollywood, night markets, and Smorgasburg, I’m sharing these candied walnuts with you. By the way, if you have recommendations for LA, 626 Night Market, or Smorgasburg, please send them to me. I would love to know all the places and eats that you’d like me to try while I’m down there for Labor Day weekend.

Happy Sunday!

We’re starting to inch our way to the end of August, and I’m more than a little excited. My sisters and I are going to LA during Labor Day weekend. It’s going to be packed with activities, but I can’t wait to explore LA and do all the touristy things that we tend to avoid in the past because of waits and crowds. If you guys have suggestions and recommendations of things to do and places to eat at in LA and the Hollywood area, we would love to hear from you. <3

Over the weekend, I went to a new tea place with a friend. If you don’t know yet, I’m kind of obsessed with boba milk tea. It’s so bad for you since most of them are sugary. But they’re sooo good. It’s my guilty pleasure.

Teaquation Tea Flights

I found this new tea place, Teaquation, that does tea flights! Basically, you can order a tea flight and choose 4 different tea flavors to try. I don’t drink much alcohol so wine tasting is a waste on me. I still go wine tasting though since I think it’s fun. Lol. I just don’t drink much. But tea tasting flights are exactly the kind of thing I love. And they make it so pretty too.

You guys! It’s mid August! How does time pass by so fast? Summer is almost over. The kids are going back to school, the abundance of stone fruits is starting to dwindle. But that means that San Francisco’s summer is coming.

Last Labor Day weekend, it was over 100 degrees for 3 days. And since it’s rarely ever that hot in San Francisco, no one knew how to stay cool. I’m hoping for warmer weather so that we get a break from the heavy fog for a few days, but definitely not that hot.

Happpy Sunday!

I hope you’ve been enjoying your weekend so far! I’ve been kind of hiding out a little at home because it’s Outside Lands this weekend in SF. Golden Gate Park is packed with thousands of people attending the music festival so traffic is terrible in and out and around the city. But it’s nice to sort of relax before heading back to a full week of work.

| Cooking with a Wallflower

The past week and a half or so, I’ve been only working part time since one of my offices is closed for vacation, which meant I had so many days this week to create and test out recipes. <3 But now it feels like it’s going to be difficult to get back into routine again after having all those days off.

So let’s start the week off with something delicious, something that will start the week off on an amazing note and set the rest of the week to follow the same way.

I’ve been partly on a staycation this past week since one of the offices I work at is closed for vacation. So, I’ve spent the last couple days in the kitchen testing brand new recipes and playing around with time lapse videos. I love that I also finally had the time to go on walks by the ocean.

Have you been to Land’s End before? It’s soo pretty. So many gorgeous coastal views and if it’s not foggy, you can even see the Golden Gate Bridge.
