Happy fall!

It’s finally fall! And I’m more than a little excited for the start of the season. Why? Because fall is my favorite time of the year. I mean, how can you resist the colors of the leaves as they change into vibrant colors? Or the variety of apples available for apple pies, apple tarts, apple cider, apple cider donuts?! Or if you’re a fan of pumpkin, PSL? Or pumpkin pie? And let’s not forget all that comfort food.

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was relatively uneventful. We did try to surprise my cousin for her birthday, but it was a complete fail. Someone accidently spilled the beans the night before. Lol. But even when it’s uneventful, the weekend never ever feels long enough so I plan to share with you a Monday morning pick me up. You know, to get you through the Mondays, and the rest of the week.

Have you ever had the mint mojito coffee at Philz Coffee? So many people rave about it. The coffee is strong with a refreshing mint taste. I thought I would make my own version at home and share it with you. That way you don’t have to make that early morning coffee run.

There’s a new bakery in San Francisco that sells baked cheese tarts called Bake Cheese Tart. I think they’re originally from Japan. During this month, they sell matcha cheese tarts. So of course, I needed to get myself some to try. These matcha cheese tarts are sweet and slightly salty so the perfect balance in flavor.

Pasta Jambalaya | Cooking with a Wallflower

I think I’ve mentioned many times before that I have this possibly unhealthy obsession with pasta. I’m pretty sure I could have pasta with any sauce, any ingredient, any time, and I would never be tired of it. So since the unofficial end of summer started Labor Day weekend, I thought I could begin sharing easy cozy weeknight dinners with you.

I’m all about that quick and simple kind of life. Especially when I come home from work exhausted. I’m always starving when I walk through the front door and I need dinner as soon as possible. My favorite solution is anything pasta. I actually love pasta with tomato sauce from the jar. But I always add a ton of vegetables and extra seasoning to make it customized to my taste. That means pasta with all of my favorite fixings.

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a fantastic weekend filled with fun activities and lots of rest. I’ve been off my routine the last two weeks so it’s going to be hard to go back to my regular schedule this week. Especially since I was on vacation for Labor Day weekend and then came back to an extra short week. Just one day of work and then the rest of the week I was at the dental convention that comes to the city once a year. Which meant taking classes that I needed to renew my dental hygiene license and exploring exhibits for new products. Some classes were interesting like forensic dentistry while others…. not so much.

But let’s talk about these cherry caprese crostini. I’m seeing the last of the cherries at the market and I’m going to share one more recipe before we have to wait another year for them to return.

It’s not often that I get to see signs of fall in San Francisco. But I went for a walk in Golden Gate Park at Stow Lake and found the first signs of fall. As much as I love long summer days and all the fresh produce and stone fruits, I can’t wait for fall to arrive and all the gorgeous colors that it brings. What about you? Are you hoping summer lasts a little longer or looking forward to fall?

Matcha Ginger Latte with Vanilla Coconut Whipped Cream | Cooking with a Wallflower

I just got back from a three day vacation, and I’m ready for another one. It’s always so hard to get back to reality after coming back from vacation, don’t you think? We were in Los Angeles to celebrate my youngest sister’s 25th birthday and packed the weekend with a ton of delicious food from the 626 Night Market and Smorgasburg. From cherry blossom ice cream bars to lobster nests, we wanted to try everything. And most definitely did with no regrets.

But when you pack your weekend with so many activities, you come back wanting another vacation. So I’m going to need a little pick me up to get me through the rest of the week. Going back to work the day after coming back from my trip? I set an alarm every 5 minutes for a half hour and only heard half of them. Lol.
