Last Sunday, my sisters and I attended the CUESA Summer Bash at the Ferry Building. This is our second time going and it was so much fun. Over 40 restaurants and over 20 bars and wineries were there to serve some of their signature dishes.

Happy Sunday!

It’s been such a nice weekend with clear skies and warm weather. I’ve been trying to savor it as much as I can because living where I live, the clear skies don’t often stay for too long. And I’m excited because tonight, my sisters and I are attending the annual CUESA Summer Bash. Over 40 restaurants, bars, and wineries will be present to serve food and drinks using farmer’s market produce. It was amazing last year, and we definitely wanted to attend the event tonight.

It’s finally June, which means that summer is just around the corner. I’m soo excited for the stone fruits and the fresh berries. I have not had the time to go to the farmer’s market in what feels like forever, and I feel like I’ve been so out of the loop about what’s in season and what’s not. But I love seasoning all the peaches, nectarines, cherries, and apricots out at the farmer’s market. And can’t wait for a few more weeks until they’re finally sweet. What fruits are you most excited for this season?

Have you ever gone mead tasting?

Heidrun Meadery | Cooking with a Wallflower

Last weekend, my family and I went to Point Reyes for mead tasting at Heidrun Meadery. It was such a pretty place. The tasting room is inside a greenhouse with heat lamps overhead to keep you warm.

I’ve never had mead before so I was excited to try it at the meadery. So many people have been asking what mead is. Basically, mead is made of three ingredients: honey, yeast, and water. The different flavors of mead derives from the different honey used. Honey varies depending on the flowers that bees pollinate. Some are sweet while others are a little bit more herby and earthy. My favorite was the California Orange Blossom.

It’s almost summer, and I cannot wait for all the abundance of fruits and vegetables that are going to be in season soon. I get super excited about all the produces at the farmer’s market. All those berries and stone fruits, all those fresh herbs and vegetables.

Maple Tamarind Salmon Spring Roll Bowls | Cooking with a Wallflower

I honestly have to put a limit on how much I can spend at the farmer’s market. If I don’t, I’d buy way too many things. And then I’d end up with more fruits and vegetables than I can eat in a week. Does this happen to anyone else?

Happy Sunday!

I hope you’re enjoying the weekend as much as I am. There’s so much to do this weekend so I’m glad that there’s an extra day. My family and are headed to Point Reyes today to do some sparkling mead tasting at Heidrun Meadery. Maybe we’ll stay in the area for lunch. But since it’s supposed to rain, I don’t think we’ll be doing any hiking in the area, as much as I want to. I’ll share photos when we get back.

It’s been so rainy lately. And I’m kind of hoping that we’ve seen the last of it for awhile. My family and I are headed up to Point Reyes this weekend to Heidrun Meadery for a sparkling mead tasting. And it would be nice to enjoy the day along the coast without the rain.
