I seem to be on an Asian kick lately. Recipe wise, which means you’ll be seeing more Asian recipes in the very near future. I hope you won’t mind.

This recipe, oh my gosh, this recipe is one of my favorites. Right behind Honey Walnut (Pecan) Shrimp. Unfortunately, nothing beats Honey Walnut Shrimp in my eyes.

Whenever my family goes out for dinner, these are the two dishes that we always order. It’s just not the same without them.

It’s seems so simple, right? How can something so simple be soo delicious and addictive? It just is.

I love that this dish is spicy, savory, succulent, and it’s perfect with that slightly crispy outer layer. Each bite is just so satisfying.

Wallflower Weekly Faves, 10

I am super excited about my Erin Condren Life Planner. And it came in pretty packaging too. Maybe now, I can organize both my dental hygiene schedule and blogging schedule. I need all the help I can get! lol

Erin Condren Life Planner

Last weekend at the Cherry Blossom Festival, I discovered something amazing: Metromint water. I have a feeling that I’ve come across it before at the supermarket. You know, when you’re standing in front of that whole section of beverages and become overwhelmed by the varieties there are? Well, Metromint water stood out to me because it’s water flavored with different types of mint. I tried the spearmint and the chocolate mint. Yes, mint chocolate flavored water. I wish I loved water. I don’t unless it’s icy cold. And Metromint water is soo refreshing that I feel like I can drink all the time. And it’s sugarless! Can you tell I’m excited?

Baked Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast | Cooking with a Wallflower

It’s been awhile since I’ve made French toast for breakfast. And I thought it was the perfect time to combine two classics: peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and French toast.

Can you already imagine the melted peanut butter and warm jam in every single bite of this French toast?

It’s sooo good. I’m a huge fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I can probably eat them every day. But I figured we could take it up a notch and turn this into an amazing breakfast.

This twist to the classic French toast has to be my newest favorite.

Life of a Wallflower

Life of a Wallflower, 24 – Cherry Blossom Festival

It’s been such a warm weekend, perfect for the cherry blossom festival at Japantown in San Francisco. The event takes place two weekends, this past weekend (April 11-12) and next weekend (April 18-19). There were so many people attending. Some were from out of town. Many were there for the food and performances. But the main attraction this year?

Roasted Parmesan Asparagus | Cooking with a Wallflower

One of my most favorite ingredients to use during the spring is asparagus.

I know. I know. Not everyone feels the same way about asparagus as I do.

And of course, asparagus has a… distinctive downside. Which you know if you’ve experienced it. And if you don’t, well, you’re lucky. =)

But! Asparagus has soo many health benefits. It has tons of antioxidants which help to reduce the risk of common chronic health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. It supports digestion and has anti cancer benefits. So if you can ignore the downside of eating asparagus, then you can get all these benefits from consuming this in season vegetable.

I love that asparagus is so easy to use. You can cook them with pasta, add them to pizza, toss them in salads. So many options!

Wallflower Weekly Faves, 9

Last week, I mentioned Starbucks debuted a new line of smoothies.

This is the Evolution Fresh Sweet Greens Smoothie, without kale since they ran out.

It was definitely good, and it tastes refreshing and healthy. But $5.95 for a grande? It’s debatable.

Asian Quinoa Lettuce Wraps | Cooking with a Wallflower

Lately, I feel like I’ve been obsessed with lettuce wraps. There’s something about eating your meals in dainty lettuce cups that’s just so darn fun. Butter lettuce is currently my favorite to use since they’re pretty sturdy for wrapping purposes. Plus, I really like that you can get them with the roots still attached so that they can stay fresh for the longest time possible.

My second latest obsession has to be quinoa. Probably because it’s a new food item I’m experimenting with so I want to make everything with it. If possible.

I had butter lettuce sitting in my fridge. I had an opened bag of quinoa begging me to use. What to do?

So ta da! I present to you my Asian Quinoa Lettuce Wraps.
