Did you dress up this last weekend? Go to Halloween parties?

I’m not really one to dress up for Halloween. But I do love seeing people dress up. So many creative costumes out there!

With October wrapping up, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite easy fall inspired recipes from over the years.

Easy Fall Inspired Recipes | Cooking with a Wallflower

I love all the seasons, but fall is my favorite. There’s something about fall that’s truly inspiring. Leaves changing colors on the tree branches, a variety of squashes in abundance, the upcoming holidays, and the warm flavors of the herbs and spices used in cooking.

I get really excited about fall and all the things that come with it. I only wish it didn’t pass by so fast!

Seriously, only four more Thursdays until Thanksgiving.

So while fall is still here, let’s enjoy some fall inspired dishes!

Have you heard of Polder’s Old World Market? I’ve been obsessed with their Instagram feed. I can sit there scrolling through their photos forever. Polder’s Old World Market sells hand carved kitchen utensils, which they fittingly call Dreamware.

This Little Starter Spoon in Beech is my first Dreamware. And I’m so in love with it.

Happy Sunday!

It’s about to rain, which I’m semi looking forward to. That is, as long as I’m indoors. Rainy days = movies, hot chocolate, and cookies. Maybe popcorn. But definitely not work or school or running errands.

Unfortunately, I can’t really take days off from work just because it’s raining. If that were the case, I’d probably be off from work the majority of October to like February. But on the bright side, it’s perfect for boots, plaid blanket scarves, and clear bubble umbrellas. Can you tell? I’m all ready for the rain.

I’m so excited to share with you these farmer’s market autumn grain bowls with maple balsamic vinaigrette! These fall inspired grain bowls are loaded with some of my favorite fall produce. Think butternut squash, Brussels sprouts, and broccolini. All of which are roasted with garlic. Um hm. If I had it my way, I would roast all of my vegetables. The flavors are soo amazing when you cook your vegetables this way, and you can make them all on a single baking sheet.

My friend Kim from SweetKimplicity got married last weekend at Sesnon House in Aptos. It was such a perfect day for a wedding. Not too hot and not too cold.

Here are a couple of pictures from the wedding day. Kim did all the chalkboard lettering, the flowers, and the little cactus seating numbers and favors. So pretty! And I just love the whole travel theme.

Are you ready for pumpkin season? I definitely hope so since October and November are all about pumpkins and squashes.

I got a little greedy and bought a huge can of pumpkin puree. You know, the one that’s big enough to make two whole pumpkin pies?

Except I wasn’t planning on making pumpkin pie, at least, not right now, and definitely not two of them, which means that I have a lot of pumpkin puree to get creative with.

I’ll start with this creamy shrimp pumpkin sage pasta.

When it comes to fall, my favorite herb to use is sage. There’s something about the flavor that works so well with pumpkin and butternut squash and almost all things fall. At least, that’s how I feel.

So I keep sage in the fridge and use just a little bit of it at a time. What’s great about sage is that you only need a few leaves to taste the flavor. Soo soo good. I don’t actually eat the sage leaves, but I love the flavor that it adds to my dishes. I hope you will too!

Sometimes I feel it’s hard to resist buying random things for my blog and for my recipes because they look like they would fit so well. Sometimes it’s a plate or a bowl that I found while walking through the aisles of a store. Sometimes it’s a linen napkin.  Or a fork. Or a wooden spoon.

In this case, when I stumbled across Sweetapolita’s shop, I knew I was going to have to buy at least one variety of her sprinkles. I love how colorful they are and they’re so perfect for decorating cupcakes and candies. Don’t they look so festive and happy? So many options to pick from too.

It’s fall! It’s fall!! It’s fall y’all! Fall is finally here!

Ahhh! I’m soo excited. It’s officially fall now. As if you can’t tell, right?

It’s time for pumpkin spice lattes, salted caramel everything, butternut squash, apple ciders, warm comforting soups.

And the best part! How could I forget? The leaves turning into gorgeous golds, reds, and oranges!

Well, at least, if you live in an area where you actually experience seasons. One of these days, I want to travel to places like Aspen or up to Washington and Oregon just to see the fall foliage.

What are you looking forward to this fall?

One of the best parts of fall is that I can happily indulge in all things warm and comforting, like soups.

Especially when it gets colder.

Wrapped in a plaid blanket scarf, wearing knee high socks, and eating a bowl of soup. Doesn’t that sound perfect?

So it can’t be a surprise that I couldn’t wait to share this creamy spinach artichoke soup with you!

Life of a Wallflower Travel

Life of a Wallflower, 29 – Sonoma Valley

Today, I’m sharing photos of my recent trip to Sonoma Valley. Be prepared for a ton of photos. =)

Every summer, my sisters, my cousins, and I take a trip together.

Sonoma Valley | Cooking with a Wallflower

We’re all obsessed with food, which makes traveling together so much easier.

But with 5 different schedules, sometimes it’s difficult to plan a vacation together. So this year, we were thinking of just doing a day trip up to Sonoma County.

Have you ever been?

Sonoma is similar to Napa, but it’s not as touristy, which means it’s a lot more relaxing and less crowded.

At the last minute, we opted to do an overnight trip, that way we would have more time to explore, and let’s be honest, eat.

Our first stop was Sausalito.

Welcome to 2016!

SO weird to write that.

How did you celebrate the new year? I just had a quiet night in and watched the ball drop on tv. I was not brave enough to face the crowds, especially in the city.

The other day I was shopping downtown with my friend Jen, and we wandered into Sugarfina, which features many imported gourmet sweets. They were out of my favorite Champagne Bears which I wanted to get as a gift, but then I saw these. Apparently these limited edition Champagne Bears were covered in edible gold. Would you try these? lol

Oh! I hope you’ve recovered from your Thanksgiving feast and any Black Friday shopping you might have done. I’m just slowly coming out of my food coma.

We had soo much food, many of which were a combination of Asian cuisine and traditional American cuisine. In other words, we had chow mein, jelly fish salad, hot and sour soup, and che Thai, a dessert made of fruit cocktails and half and half. That also means we get to have a quiche filled with kale, artichoke, sun-dried tomatoes, and mushrooms. And an apple cranberry pie, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, garlic bread, and turkey with gravy. All buffet style because we just don’t have a table long enough to seat all of us.
