Happy Wednesday!

Have you ever had loaf bread filled with melted chocolate chips and swirls of cinnamon sugar? It is sooo good. After making a loaf of this, I had to stop myself from devouring it all. I’m not sure if it’s the chocolate that I’m so obsessed with or if it’s all those swirls of cinnamon sugar in every bite. But the combination of chocolate and cinnamon sugar is my favorite!

Happy Sunday!

After a whirlwind trip to Las Vegas last weekend and coming back to a long work week, I decided that this weekend has to be as low key as possible. It’s my lazy Sunday in since I worked Saturday. Or at least, that’s what I have planned. It almost never ends up like that.

But I’m savoring all that breaks I can get because in the next two months, my weekends are booked with all sorts of events leading up to my cousin’s end of March wedding.

In the mean time, I’m so excited to share this soup with you.

During winter months, all I ever want are warm and hearty and comforting foods, like soups and stews and chili, to chase away the cold. Plus, I love that you can always make a big pot of soup and have leftovers for your meal the next day. You can always pair your soups, stews, and chili with slices of toasted bread for an even more filling meal.

Happy Friday!

I can’t believe it’s been a week since we were in Vegas! I wish I could go back. Mostly because I want to eat my way through all those amazing restaurants. In less than 48 hours, we ate at five restaurants, one of which was a buffet. But I’ve been inspired by some of the dishes we ate and can’t wait to get started on recreating them at home.

Oh, and these cookies have become my latest obsession! Have you tried Milk Bar’s cookies?

Life of a Wallflower Recommendations Travel

Destination: Point Reyes

We just got back from Las Vegas the other day, and even though we were there for less than 48 hours, it felt like so much longer because we did so many things. Now, I’m trying to fall back into routine, and it is hard. Because as usual, I’d much rather be on vacation. So while I’m not ready to share all of our Vegas adventures just yet, I wanted to share my previous adventure from just a couple months back.

Destination: Point Reyes | Cooking with a Wallflower

Have you been to Point Reyes before? I feel it’s not as well known as some other areas of the San Francisco Bay Area. But if you’re a fan of nature and hiking, then Point Reyes is definitely a destination for you.

Lately, I feel like it’s all about the breakfast. Have you noticed that recently too?

I think I’m trying to make breakfast a part of my daily routine. It is soo hard. Most days, I wake up, brush, change, grab my lunch from the fridge, and leave the house. All within the span of 14-16 minutes. How I manage that almost every day is beyond me. And how I manage that during the winter when it’s cold, foggy, and wet is seriously a miracle because I always want to linger in bed a little longer. Who doesn’t, right?

A new chocolate shop opened in SF recently called Ginger Elizabeth. All the chocolates, macarons, and desserts are hand made. So it’s a little pricier. But they have the most amazing flavors. I enjoyed all the macarons. My favorite is either the yuzu marmalade or the rose and butter caramel.

We’re in Las Vegas this weekend for my cousin’s bachelorette party. Just a quick weekend trip, but our days are packed with all these activities we want to do and places to eat. Lots of places to eat. One of which is a buffet. I’ll be sharing photos on my Instagram feed.

This week was SF Restaurant Week, where participating fine dining restaurants create a prix fixe menu for about $40 so that you can try dishes that you might not be able to try otherwise. My sisters and I decided to try Toy Soldier, a new restaurant in the French quarter of SF. And I think I just discovered my favorite place for New England clam chowder in the city.

Happy Tuesday!

We’re back to making simple breakfasts today.

I feel breakfast is one of those meals that we always have the least amount of time for. Which means we need to keep it as simple as possible. Eggs, toast, avocado, and seasoning. Or eggs, bacon, avocado, and seasoning. It’s as simple as it can get, right? Plus, the bright side is, you’re most likely to have all these ingredients at home already so no shopping needed.

Happy Sunday!

I can’t believe it’s the end of yet another weekend. Somehow, it never feels as if two days is enough to recharge, especially after a difficult week at work. But I’m already ready for the following weekend for a mini getaway in Vegas. So many things to do, um, mainly food related, in so little time.
