Avocado Toast with Sunny Side Egg and Ham
Slightly garlicky avocado toast topped with a runny sunny side egg and ham. This avocado toast with sunny side egg and ham is perfect for a quick breakfast or snack.
It has been so cold lately. And super windy. And rainy. But I suppose I can’t complain. Much. After all, we need the rain to offset the years of drought in California.
But, that doesn’t mean I like being outside while it rains. Or getting the bottom of my scrub pants soaked because of all the puddles. Or having my umbrella flip on me. Life, right?
I really rather be home enjoying this version of avocado toast.
There’s something about avocado toast that’s so delicious, even in its simplicity. Or maybe it’s because it’s simple that you can enjoy the flavors more.
Sun Basket Giveaway
This post is sponsored by Sun Basket, but all opinions are my own.
You guys! I have a fun giveaway for you today!
I know with the new year many of us (me!) are trying to eat a little healthier. At least, for the next couple of weeks anyway. I feel like I need a reset button after all the peppermint bark, hot chocolate, and cookies I’ve indulged on over the holidays. So when Sun Basket reached out to me to ask if I’d like to try their meal plans, I was really excited. Simple and healthy recipes are always what I’m looking for in my meals, especially right now, when I’m trying to go back to my regular work schedule. It’s super hard to go back to work after the holidays, don’t you think?

Welcome to 2016!
SO weird to write that.
How did you celebrate the new year? I just had a quiet night in and watched the ball drop on tv. I was not brave enough to face the crowds, especially in the city.
The other day I was shopping downtown with my friend Jen, and we wandered into Sugarfina, which features many imported gourmet sweets. They were out of my favorite Champagne Bears which I wanted to get as a gift, but then I saw these. Apparently these limited edition Champagne Bears were covered in edible gold. Would you try these? lol
Happy New Year!
2015 Recipe Fails
Can you believe it’s already New Year’s Eve? What?!
And how can I wrap up 2015 without sharing with you the worst of Cooking with a Wallflower?
I already shared with you the best of the best here. And I’ve shared with you the best of the best of 2014. And also the recipe fails of 2014. So now, it’s time for me to share with you some of my 2015 recipe fails.
Because you know, it’s not always perfect in my kitchen. The photos you see are the final results, but all the behind the scene things you didn’t see? Well, don’t worry. I photographed them too, just in case you wanted to see what those look like. There has to be a ton of fails in order for there to be a success. So if you guys have experienced failure in the kitchen, don’t give up. Because trust me, I still have a lot of them. You just get better with time. [Read more…]
Peppermint Bark S’mores
Toasted marshmallows and melted peppermint bark sandwiched between graham crackers. These Peppermint Bark S’mores are great for the holidays and the perfect way to use up those extra peppermint barks you have leftover (if any).
Okay. So this post might have come a tad too late. Sort of. Cuz this was what I was enjoying Christmas Day while unwrapping my presents under our Christmas tree.
I should have shared it earlier, huh?
But! If you have any leftover peppermint bark, and that’s a big if, I know, you can use them up to make this deliciously messy, ooey, gooey, peppermint-y, s’mores.
You know you want to make them. Just picture each warm bite of this little treat filled with toasted marshmallows and melted peppermint bark. You get both white chocolate and milk or dark chocolate in one dessert! How much more perfect can it get?
And how can you resist this wintery goodness when it takes you 30 seconds to prepare and at tops, 5 minutes to melt and toast?

I hope you guys had a fantastic Christmas!
The last few days have been packed with activities leading up to Christmas. Work, possible jury duty, 10 year high school reunion (still can’t believe it!), last minute donations to the toy drive, a taste of the best chocolate cake ever (to me anyway).
And then when it hit Christmas, I did absolutely nothing. My family and I spent the day in our PJs eating and watching Christmas movies. The life. =)
What did you guys do? I would love to hear your stories!
Happy Holidays!
10 Most Popular Recipes of 2015
Can you believe there’s only two more days till Christmas?
Are you done with your shopping yet? If you are, I’m jealous! While I still have time to shop since I won’t see all my friends before or on Christmas, I wish I was done, but I’m not. I mean, seriously, what the heck do you get for people who have the means to buy whatever they want? Christmas and birthdays are always so stressful. In a good way though.
I’ll show you some of the things I’ve done for a more sentimental gift later.
In the mean time, since we’re wrapping up 2015, I figured I’d do a roundup of some of the most popular recipes on my blog. Just in case you missed them and wanted to try them out =)
Oh, and stay tuned next week when I feature my 2015 Recipe Disasters. Because we all know it’s not always perfect in the kitchen. There are a ton of disasters that take place before you see the final results. You can take a look at my 2014 Recipe Disasters here.
