Oh my gosh. You guys! You guys! I’ve been so excited! I’ve waited to share these sparkling sugar coated cranberries with you for awhile now. Aren’t they just so festive and perfect for the holidays?
Last Sunday, we went up to wine country for a daycation with just us girls. Every couple months we want to get away from the city just a little to enjoy ourselves. We visited a couple of wineries and discovered a new favorite spot. If you haven’t been to wine country during the fall, you really need to visit. Especially as the grape vines change into shades of yellows, oranges, and reds. It is absolutely stunning.

It definitely doesn’t feel like it, but then again, it never really does in California. Over the weekend, we went to Kenwood and Napa for more wine tasting and to enjoy the view of wine country during the fall.
Have you been to wine country during the fall? If you love summers in wine country, you might just love the fall even more. The leaves change into shades of yellow, orange, and red. The weather is much cooler, which I personally think makes it much more enjoyable. When you’re sipping wine under the hot sun, it’s uncomfortable. When you’re sipping wine in the cold wind, you just need to wrap yourself up in a cozy sweater or a warm blanket. It’s so much fun.

We finally got our Christmas tree this weekend! I’m so excited. Our tree is up and decorated even though the star is more than a little lopsided. Now, we can start placing gifts under our tree!
Christmas trees are actually a recent thing for our family. Growing up, we never had a Christmas tree since money was tight. It wasn’t until I got my first paycheck as a dental hygienist that we started buying a Christmas tree. And we absolutely love getting fresh ones from the Christmas tree lot. It’s so much fun walking through the rows and rows of trees to find the perfect one. Plus, my sisters and I love that our living room smells like Christmas. Maybe one day we’ll go to a Christmas tree farm and chop our own. Do you have a tree at home?

Right before Thanksgiving, my sister and I went to the pre-Thanksgiving Ferry Building farmer’s market. While there weren’t many vendors there, we did see a brand new bakery stand, Dot’s Baking Pantry, selling a ton of cakes and cookies and basically every dessert you could possibly want.
And I discovered Hummingbird Cake for the first time. I’ve heard of it, never had it, and all of a sudden, I’m sooo obsessed with it. It’s literally love at first bite. Have you ever had hummingbird cake?

I know it hasn’t been that long since Thanksgiving, but I’m already looking towards the winter holidays. I know when it comes to fall and winter pies, we tend to think of pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie, but I wanted to introduce to you something a little different. Today, I wanted to talk about butternut squash pie.
I’ve always been a fan of butternut squash. It’s works both as an ingredient for sweet or savory dishes. They’re great in my pasta and in savory puff pastries. And now I can use it in my dessert too.
Strongly brewed coffee filled with pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and old fashioned oats. This pumpkin maple almond oatmeal latte is delicious and comforting, especially as the weather gets cooler.
I had the most relaxing several days ever, and I’m so grateful to be able to relax and recharge. That is, if you subtract all the hecticness that revolved around cooking for Thanksgiving. I always look forward to Thanksgiving though. Delicious food, fun time with the family, marathons of Hallmark Christmas movies. What’s not to love?
But as much as I love eating all the dishes we make for Thanksgiving, I love eating the leftovers so much more as you can probably see from my previous few posts. But now, my almost week long holiday vacation is over, and I have to fall back into routine.

So today, I’m sharing with you some photos from our Thanksgiving table. My sister and I teamed up to the honey pear pie. She put the pie together so that I could work on other dishes, then we designed the pie crust together.
