Creamy steel cut oatmeal sweetened with fresh peaches and maple syrup. This peaches and cream steel cut oatmeal is delicious and perfect for breakfast.
Happy Sunday!
The best part about summer is that I have an abundance of peaches and nectarines waiting to be eaten. I buy so many at the farmer’s market over the weekends. I feel they taste so much better than the ones from the supermarket. But sometimes I buy too many, and I can’t finish them in time, especially since I like my stone fruits firm rather than soft and ripe. Once it becomes ripe, it’s perfect for smoothies and recipes.
Do you like your peaches and nectarines firm or soft? And while I’m asking anyway, do you prefer peaches or nectarines? Yellow or white?
I love both.
But let’s talk about this peaches and cream steel cut oatmeal.
I love the flavor of peaches. It always reminds me of candy. You know those peach rings? They’re kind of addictive. And this peaches and cream steel cut oatmeal reminds me of them. This is creamy with a chewy texture. Every bite is filled with peaches and notes of maple and vanilla.
It’s hearty and filling, the perfect way to start your summer mornings. It’s enough to serve 2-3, but I like to store leftovers in small mason jars so that I can bring them to work with me. Oftentimes, the oatmeal starts to absorb all the liquid and becomes super thick. I just add more almond milk and stir until the consistency is to my liking.
In a small or medium sized pot, add steel cut oats and water over medium heat. Cook the oats for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the oatmeal from sticking to the bottom. Stir in vanilla extract, diced and peeled peaches, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and almond milk. Cook for an additional 35 minutes or so until the oatmeal consistency is to your liking. Allow the oatmeal to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Serve the peaches and cream warm with a drizzle of maple syrup and almond milk. Top with fresh slices of peaches and fresh or frozen berries.
Enjoy!

What an adorable and nutritious looking breakfast!! Thanks for sharing and for checking out my blog, Andrea!
I hope you get the chance to try it!
looks so delicious! Non dairy too. Going to have to try this one!
Hope you’ll like it!
Perfect – I have some peaches and oats in the fridge and virtually nothing else for tomorrow after a weekend away, so this will come in handy for breakfast!
Yummy, great recipe!
Thank you
Andrea, you make “Good for the Heart” look incredibly easy! 🍓
Aww, thank you, Gail!
I don’t usually love sweetened oatmeal, but this looks delicious. I think I need to give it a try! 🙂
How do you usually eat your oatmeal?
I am so boring, but I love just plain oatmeal, preferably steel cut oats, but any will do. For a short while I was on a kick of eating overnight oatmeal and mixing in some coconut, nuts, and chia seeds, but I always come back to my plain old oatmeal. Weird, huh?!
Peaches are delicious, I tried the Steel Cut oats, didn’t like the texture but this looks really good. ❤️👌🏻
I enjoy both but prefer peaches.
This looks amazing! I love overnight oats! And I am also pumped it’s peach season, just picked some yesterday from my family’s peach trees!
Oh my gosh! You’re so lucky to have peach trees!
You are right, Andrea. Fruit purchased from a grower at a farmers’ market is tastier than fruit from a supermarket.
