Fresh blueberries cooked with sugar and water until it thickens into jam. This quick and easy small batch blueberry jam is delicious and perfect for summer.
Happy Sunday!
I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! Can you believe that it’s already the first day of July? Summer is moving fast! Are you celebrating the 4th of July early this year? Or are you waiting until next weekend to celebrate? Even if you’re not celebrating, it’s the perfect time to go out there and enjoy the sunshine. Maybe it’s at the park or the beach, but it’s definitely the perfect weather for the outdoors.
And can we talk about how amazingly sweet and juicy and huge blueberries are during the summer? So obsessed with them. So of course that means that I have to use them in every way that I can while they are readily available.
The flavor of blueberries stands out so well in everything they’re added to. So I wanted to create a simple syrup and jam that’s simple to make and so delicious. You can add more water to thin the reduced blueberries into a simple syrup or you can let the blueberries break down and thicken into a jam. Either way will be just soo good.
You can use the jam to spread on your bread. Or add it to your oatmeal. Or even to your lemonade to make a blueberry lemonade. So many ways to use this!
In a small pot, add fresh blueberries, granulated sugar, and a little bit of water. Cook the blueberries for about 10-15 minutes until the blueberries have burst open and break down. Remove the pot from heat and let the blueberries sit for several minutes to thicken.
Serve this quick and easy small batch blueberry jam on toast, with oatmeal, or in your drinks. Keep leftovers in the fridge for up to a week.
Enjoy!
