Slightly sweetened with condensed milk, this avocado smoothie tastes delicious and creamy. The richness of this smoothie will keep you full for a long time, a perfect afternoon snack to keep away the need to munch. Quick and easy, this smoothie takes less than 10 minutes to prep and make.
Most people use avocadoes in salads, burgers, crepes, eggs benedicts, and so much more. Its rich and creamy texture is a great compliment to many foods. I love avocado in my foods.
But my favorite way of eating avocadoes? Smashed avocadoes or an avocado smoothie. If you have no idea what they are, you’re in for a treat!
First, did you know that avocadoes are quite healthy for you?
Health Benefits
Avocado is filled with tons of vitamins, minerals, and good fat. There are so many health benefits to eating these fruits. Yup, avocado is a fruit. They help promote a healthy heart, lower cholesterol levels, control blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels, decrease risk of cancer, promote eye health, decrease risk of strokes, and nourish the skin. These are only some of the things avocado does for us. It is high in fats and calories, you can taste the richness when you’re eating avocado, but it’s good fat. Healthy fats tend to promote our health. Even eating just a little bit of avocado will allow you to absorb the nutrients found in avocado.
So what are you waiting for? It’s time to start eating avocado. =)
Smashed Avocadoes
Have you been to a Vietnamese snack shop before? They usually have an item called “Bo Dam,” which translates into “Smashed Avocadoes.” This drink/dessert is usually a combination of smashed avocadoes and condensed milk, or sugar and milk. I prefer the condensed milk version so much more.
If you want to try Smashed Avocado, here are the simple steps. Cut a large avocado in half, removing the pit. Using a spoon, carve the avocado from its outer skin. Take the spoon and smash it until it looks similar to guacamole. Then add in 1 – 1 ½ tablespoons of condensed milk (depends on your taste buds), mixing until evenly combined.
How long does it take to make? About 5 minutes. The hardest part? Smashing the avocado.
It looks plain, but it tastes amazing. It’ll keep you full for a long while.
Go for it!
Avocado Smoothie
An avocado smoothie can often be found in Asian restaurants and snack shops. It’s very similar to Smashed Avocado, but it’s blended so that the texture becomes smooth and creamy.
First, cut a large avocado in half and remove the pit from the center. The avocado that you are using should be ripe. That means that when you’re feeling the fruit, it is soft enough to depress under your fingers. This is also the perfect way to get rid of avocadoes if you have too many ripened ones and don’t know what to do with them.
Do you see that dark green part of the avocado that’s right next to the skin? Make sure that you don’t leave that behind on the skin. The dark green area is supposed to be the part of the avocado filled with the most nutrients.
Using a spoon, carve the avocado from its outer skin into the blender. I used a Magic Bullet, which is perfect for single servings.
Add about two tablespoons of condensed milk and a few ice cubes, around 4-5. If you prefer your smoothie very creamy, that’s it! In fact, I like it this way because with the ice, it’s almost like ice cream.
For the consistency of a smoothie, add about 1/8 cup of milk. For a larger avocado, you may have to add another 1/8 cup.
Blend the ingredients until it appears creamy and smooth. Pour into a glass or a mason jar.
Serve cold. Enjoy!

I know it sounds weird to add condensed milk to avocado, but I grew up eating it that way. It might be a Vietnamese thing. But I love it. And if you decide to try it, I hope you’ll enjoy it.

I grew up in Kazakhstan and condensed milk is very popular there. I always use it in my baking but now I should try it with my avocado smoothie.
