Grapefruits drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon or chili powder then broiled. These broiled honey grapefruits are great for breakfast or as an afternoon snack.
Okay, I’m almost embarrassed to post this as a recipe because it’s sooo easy to make. But hey, not everyone grills their fruits, and not everyone broils their fruits, so I had to share =)
Grapefruits are one of those “love it or hate it” kind of foods. Some people love the contrasting flavor of sweetness and bitterness in grapefruits, and others don’t. And that’s all okay because we all have our likes and dislikes.
But one of my favorite ways to eat grapefruit is by broiling them.
Drizzle grapefruits with honey, which gives them a boost of sweetness, and sprinkle the top with a dash of chili powder if you like your fruits with a little bit of heat. I know I love that, especially Mexican fruits. I’m so addicted to those and I always get them when I’m at the mall. I like munching on fruits while I shop. Is that weird? lol. If you don’t like to add heat to your fruit, but want a little something extra to boost the flavors of fruit, you can sprinkle ground cinnamon on top.
Set the oven to broil. I used a conventional oven rather than the big oven just because it was easier for me.
Place the grapefruit halves onto a baking sheet or a baking pan.
Drizzle honey onto the grapefruits, sprinkle cinnamon or chili powder on top.
Now, place the grapefruits into the oven to broil for about 15 minutes.
Remove the grapefruits from the oven and allow to cool down for a couple minutes.
Serve the grapefruits warm.
Enjoy!
- 1 grapefruit, sliced in half
- 1-2 teaspoons honey, divided
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon or chili powder (optional)
- Set the oven to the broil setting.
- Place the grapefruit halves on a baking sheet or baking pan.
- Drizzle honey on top.
- Sprinkle cinnamon or chili powder on top.
- Broil the grapefruits for 15 minutes.
- Serve the grapefruits warm.
