Delicious and refreshing icy cold watermelon blended into a slushie. Sweet with no added sugar, this one ingredient beverage is great for hot summer days.
Yes. You read that right. One ingredient watermelon slushie.
Technically, this isn’t really a recipe, but I wanted to introduce this amazing summer beverage to you in case you haven’t tried it before. It’s one of my favorites.
Occasionally, when I, or one of my younger sisters, crave watermelon juice, and we don’t have watermelon at home, we would drop by a milk tea shop and buy one. It’s usually $3-4 a cup. Expensive, right? I think so too.
Watermelon slushies are so easy to make. They’re delicious and refreshing and a healthy thirst quencher. And did I mention you only need one ingredient? So what are you waiting for? Go out and buy a watermelon.
Cut the watermelon into smaller pieces. You’ll need about 2 cups.
Freeze the watermelon for about 1-2 hours until they are semi solid.
Add the frozen watermelon into the blender, and several ice cubes if desired. Blend the watermelon until it becomes smooth.
Pour the watermelon slushie into a glass, and serve cold.
Enjoy!

Hi, just want to check with you if you know why I can’t read your blog from my ipad? All pics are blank boxes plus the like button does not load. Thanks.
Andrea| Cooking with a Wallflower says
It shouldn’t be happening. I checked on my ipad and everything seems to be working fine. However, it was an issue about a month ago. Maybe it hasn’t cleared from your ipad yet. What you could try doing is clearing the cookies/cache from your browser. Go to “settings,” scroll down to “safari,” tap on it, then scroll to the bottom where it says “clear cookies and data.” It’ll probably close your tabs and history. But that should help clear the problem. Let me know if you have any other questions or if it continues to happen. I’ll do my best to help you fix it! Thanks for letting me know you’re having issues, and for reading and following my blog. Have a great weekend! =)

Yum! I like blending frozen watermelon with some limeade and unsweetened shredded coconut…and a little rum doesn’t hurt, either.

Oohh! That sounds really delicious! Very tropical and summer like. I’d have to give it a try =)

Mmm I made this on a hot day a few weeks ago and it’s so tasty and refreshing. If you don’t have time to freeze the watermelon (because you need the slushy right away!!) you can always blend the watermelon with ice as well. Lovely photo’s Andrea 🙂
Andrea| Cooking with a Wallflower says
Thanks! You can definitely use ice. The only thing about ice is that sometimes I’m worried it’ll water down the flavor. Have a great weekend!

If i could afford watermelon… I would be making this all summer long ^-^ Perhaps my favorite melon of all time! xD

Oh my gosh, I’ve heard that melons in general are super expensive in Japan! I’ve never been, but I’ve always wanted to. I studied Japanese for several years, and I love the language. =) How is the Jet program? It must be amazing! Have a great weekend!

Depending on the season and region the prices vary but I’ve seen one small melon go for as much as $90 and the cheapest has gone for $20-30 😛
Andrea| Cooking with a Wallflower says
You’d have to be rich to eat melon then!
