Usually, I like to create recipes based more on the seasons than on the holidays. With the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas because they’re my favorites. But this Valentine’s Day, I had ideas that I couldn’t resist sharing. So be prepared for chocolate and strawberries. lol.

I’ve been wanting to make these pop tarts for like ever. Simple to make, just a few ingredients, about a half hour, and ta daaah, strawberry jam pop tarts.

This is a small batch. So you don’t have to worry about a ridiculous amount of leftover pop tarts that you’ll have to eat for daaaays. Instead, you’ll have a couple to indulge now and a few to save for later.

Each bite has the flakiness of the puff pastries, the sweetness of the strawberry jam, and a subtle crunch from the coarse sugar dusted on the tops of the pop tarts.

But the fun part is the heart cutouts. I bought my heart cookie cutters on Amazon. It comes in a set of 6, but there are technically 12 designs. It fit my purposes. You can definitely be as creative as you want. Or as simple as you want. 6 pop tarts. 6 different designs. A half hour.

What will you be making for Valentine’s Day?

Cut each of the pastry sheets into 6 even rectangles. You’ll have a total of 12 rectangles.

Spread about a tablespoon of strawberry jam on six of the rectangular puff pastry cut outs. On the other six rectangular puff pastry sheets, use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and create designs.
