Puff pastries with heart cutouts filled with strawberry jam. These strawberry jam pop tarts are simple to make and perfect for breakfast.
Ingredients
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 6 tablespoons strawberry jam
Eggwash
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
Topping
  • Coarse Sugar (optional)
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside for now.
  2. Cut each of the pastry sheets into 6 even rectangles. You’ll have a total of 12 rectangles.
  3. Spread about a tablespoon of strawberry jam on six of the rectangular puff pastry cut outs. On the other six rectangular puff pastry sheets, use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and create designs.
  4. Place the puff pastry sheet with the cut outs over the puff pastry sheet with the jams. Use a fork to press the edges together on all four sides.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together egg and milk until combined. Brush the eggwash over the top of the pop tarts. Sprinkle the tops with coarse sugar.
  6. Place the pop tarts on the baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes until the tops are a golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before serving. The pop tarts will be completely puffed up but as it cools, it will deflate.
  8. Serve these strawberry jam pop tarts for breakfast or as a snack.
