Over the weekend, I was in Sacramento for the California State Fair, and it was so ridiculously hot. I mean, I guess I should be grateful that it was in the 90’s and not over 100F, like the usual for a summer day in Sacramento. But…. since I’m a San Francisco girl through and through, it felt as though I was melting from the heat.

For those of you who live in areas that are hot like that all the time, I don’t know how you guys do it. It was so hot and you could hear us complain every few minutes. Lol. Luckily, we stayed indoors eating all the way to Sacramento. So by the time we were at the California State Fair, the sun was starting to set and it was not as unbearable.

Since it’s been so ridiculously hot, I thought I could share with you another refreshing drink that’s perfect for cooling down on hot days. Just a few simple ingredients, stir them together and then top with crushed ice. For reals, it’s going to be a life saver on a super hot day.

Blueberry Hibiscus Iced Tea | Cooking with a Wallflower

In a large jar, steep the hibiscus tea bag in hot water for a few minutes. Once the hibiscus tea is ready, pour the hibiscus tea into two smaller jars. Add blueberry simple syrup to the tea. Start with a small amount and add more syrup to taste. Top the glasses with crushed ice and fresh blueberries.

To make the blueberry simple syrup, add blueberries, water, and granulated sugar to a small pot. Cook the blueberries for several minutes until they breakdown. Then let the blueberry simple syrup sit until they thicken. You can find more details on this here.

Ingredients
  • 1 hibiscus tea bag
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 4 tablespoons blueberry simple syrup, more to taste
  • crushed ice
Directions:
  1. In a large jar, steep the hibiscus tea bag in hot water for a few minutes. Once the hibiscus tea is ready, pour the hibiscus tea into two smaller jars. Add blueberry simple syrup to the tea. Start with a small amount and add more syrup to taste. Top the glasses with crushed ice and fresh blueberries.
