A delicious combination of strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries infused in elderflower soda. This triple berry elderflower spritzer is a refreshing drink for the spring.
It’s spring, almost summer, which means berries galore. And I love every moment of it.
The gorgeous vibrant colors, the sweetness of the berries. How can I resist them? I’ve been waiting all year for them to be back in season.
A few months ago, my friend and I had lunch at the Slanted Door in the San Francisco Ferry Building. On their menu is an elderflower spritzer, which sounded soo amazing. I was disappointed when I discovered they were out of the elderflower syrup to make the drink. But somehow, that elderflower spritzer, which I never had the chance to try, stayed in my mind. I finally decided to order a bottle of elderflower syrup through Amazon to create my own drink.
And this is the result.
Elderflower syrup is a clear and tastes very similar to longan or lychee and has the slightest hint of citrus. And while it tastes amazing with club soda, it doesn’t look like much.
So of course, I wanted to pick seasonal ingredients that would be the perfect complement to the flavor of elderflower. I had to infuse this spritzer with berries. Why not take advantage of these fresh berries, right?
This recipe, in all honesty, is not really a recipe. There’s not much that you need to do.
Add elderflower syrup into a small pitcher. Pour in the club soda and stir to incorporate the soda and the syrup. While I think the bottle of elderflower syrup is a great investment, I know not everyone is willing to go out and buy a 500mL bottle. So you can always create a simple syrup and add a little bit of lemon for flavoring.
Add diced strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries to the elderflower soda. And if you have raspberries, these would be a great addition too.
Divide the drink between two glasses and serve with crushed ice.
Enjoy!

I absolutely love elderflower – it is the taste of my childhood summers – but I have not had anything elderflower since we left Britain. I assume it is not available as a cordial or a syrup in any of the grocery stores I frequent so I will need to track some down somehow. It’s a mission now.
