Creamy oatmeal latte filled with rich chocolate and topped with mini marshmallows. This hot chocolate oatmeal latte is delicious and cozy, perfect for a wintery day in.
I adore hot chocolates and oatmeal lattes so why can’t I have both?
When it comes to December, all I ever want to do is snuggle up in bed with a warm blanket, boot socks, a good book, and a Hallmark Christmas movie playing in the background. I know so many people are into Christmas music and songs, but me? I prefer the movies.
I’ve seen so many of the movies! After awhile, the plots sound the same, the endings are predictable, and the movies replay, but I still watch. Because it’s fun and I know there’s always a happy ending.
So I can already picture myself this weekend, all snuggled up in front of my Christmas tree, watching a marathon of Hallmark Christmas movies, and sipping, or I guess, spooning, this hot chocolate oatmeal latte.
If you love your hot chocolate, and you love your coffee, why can’t we combine both to create a hot chocolate latte? And while we’re at it, why don’t we just add oatmeal and make this an everything you can possibly want for breakfast? Just saying. =)
This version of hot chocolate oatmeal latte is chocolaty, rich, and thick. If you prefer your hot chocolate less thick, just add more of the almond milk.
In a small pot, add almond milk, old fashioned oats, and brown sugar over low to medium heat. Stir to incorporate all the ingredients. Cook the oats for a few minutes until they start to thicken. Add an ounce of semi sweet chocolate, and stir until completely melted and combined with the oats.
Pour the chocolate oats into a mug, then pour in strongly brewed coffee. Top the hot chocolate oatmeal latte with mini marshmallows or whipped cream and granola.
Enjoy!

Looks delicious! Nice and rich.
My parents are obsessed with the Hallmark Christmas movies. The predictability is exactly why I can’t get into them myself. They keep challenging me to guess the ending.

This is certainly not a combination I’ve ever thought of but it looks great. Maybe I’ll give this one a try when next we get a cold front (which is only cold to a girl used to the tropics haha… like 20°C). Christmas in Jamaica has been scorchingly hot these days.
