Cheesy biscuits that are fluffy and slightly crispy on the outside served with creamy honey butter. These cheddar biscuits with honey butter are the perfect way to start a meal.
Cheddar biscuits served with honey butter. Do I really need to say more?
These cheddar biscuits. Oh my god. Each bite of this biscuit will give you the mild taste of cheddar. The top of the biscuits sprinkled with a little bit of shredded cheddar cheese will be slightly crispy, the inside soft and buttery. I can eat these all by themselves and be completely satisfied.
But, can you imagine pairing them with honey butter?
I’m actually not a butter with bread kind of girl. I usually leave my butter unopened when it comes with toast or bread or English muffins. Most of the time, I think bread tastes good by itself so there’s no need to spread anything on it. However, this honey butter is one of two exceptions.
Have you had honey butter before? It’s butter whipped with honey and just a little bit of powdered sugar to make them extra creamy. I can probably eat this honey butter with just about anything because they’re that good.
Now, pair the honey butter and the cheddar biscuits together. It’s an unlikely combination that’s so addictive. And I first encountered it at Farmstead. See? I told you. Obsessed. It’s currently my favorite restaurant.
Obviously, this is an indulgence, but considering that the fall holidays are just around the corner. Maybe these will make an appearance on your dinner table?
Try them. I promise you won’t regret it.
Preheat the oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with either parchment paper or with a silicone baking mat.
In a large bowl, add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar. Mix these ingredients until they are well combined.
Next, add butter to the bowl. Use a pastry cutter or two forks to break the butter apart. Mix the butter with the flour until they become pea size.
Fold in the cheddar cheese until they are well distributed in the dough.
Then, pour in the buttermilk and stir until the ingredients are wet.
Use a ¼ measuring cup to scoop each serving of dough. Place the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. I placed about 6 biscuits per baking sheet. That way if the biscuits expanded, they wouldn’t run into another one.
Sprinkle extra cheddar cheese over each biscuit before placing the baking sheet into the oven to bake for about 12-14 minutes or until the top of the biscuits are golden brown.
While the biscuits are baking, whisk the room temperature butter until it becomes smooth. Add honey and powdered sugar and whisk until the butter becomes smooth.
Once the biscuits are done, allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving them with the honey butter.
Enjoy!
