Strawberries and papaya blended with soymilk and ice to create a rich and creamy smoothie perfect for spring. This Strawberry Papaya Smoothie is so delicious and refreshing.
It’s hot again here in San Francisco.
I absolutely love the sunshine, but I’m wishing it would rain already to end this California drought. Because in all honesty, I had no idea how difficult it is to conserve water when you’re always cooking. Like, how do I conserve water when I’m constantly doing dishes? I knew there was a reason why I hated doing dishes. I love to cook, but washing dishes? Bleh. Someone needs to invent a magic wand for me to wave so my dishes are magically clean and dry.
Whenever it’s hot, I want to sit back in the shade with something cold and fruity. Usually, I prefer watermelon slushie. Soo refreshing. Have you tried it yet?
But today, I wanted something different, something more exotic.
And papaya is the perfect fruit for that. I mean, have you tried papaya before? This fruit is absolutely overwhelming. I know, that’s a strange description, but it’s true. Its fragrance overpowers all, with the exception of durian and jackfruit. Both of which I adore to the dismay of many of my friends. Can you tell I’m a fruit fanatic?
Strawberries and papaya are such an amazing combination. It’s sweet and exotic and so perfectly SPRING.
Blend together strawberries, papaya, ice, and soymilk until it becomes creamy and smooth. You can add a little sugar if necessary. I didn’t, but fruits have varying degrees of sweetness. There are times when the strawberries are super sweet and other times when they’re bland. So you can adjust the smoothie to your taste.
Enjoy!
- 2½ cups sliced papaya
- 2 cups sliced strawberries
- ½ cup soymilk
- 4-5 ice cubes
- Place all the ingredients into the blender and blend until they appear smooth and creamy.
Hi Andrea, I saw this milkshake the other day and have come back to check the recipe. It looks fantastic. I’ve bought the fruit today, so will let you know tomorrow! x
This looks like a good drink for me, for this sad time. Thank you Andrea
I’m so sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family.
Thank you Andrea for being so kind with your likes and comments, it’s a comfort to know you care. Hope we can meet one day. <3
I love making papaya strawberry smoothie. The difference between mine and yours is; I add apple and ripe banana to mine.
I love your recipes! They’re always really good and never leave me feeling heavy or weighted down.
I guess you could switch to paper plates!! Lol. On my way to SF on the Coast Starlight. They use flimsy plastic.
Sounds great!
Do you have tips on buying papaya? How do you select one? How do you know if it’s ripe?
A ripe papaya should be reasonable soft to the touch. If it felt hard, then it is not ripe. I prefer to buy the ripe ones. Hard or green papaya takes between three and four days to ripen. Still, it could take longer, but that depends on whether the farmer harvested the fruit before it is fully fit.. You can speed up ripening by wrapping the fruit in newspapers.
Thanks for the tips! I will give them a try. I’ve been getting better at selecting mango, so now I’ll move on to fresh papaya!
You want a papaya that’s yellowish and sometimes red and gives a little when you press on it. If it’s green, it’s not ripe and if it’s completely hard, it’s not ripe either. Hope that helps!
Thanks! The ones I see in the store are usually green and hard. They are also so big that I’m afraid to buy it and then waste it by using it the wrong way.
This reminds me of Taiwan! Papaya milkshake is huge there.
That looks good!
I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. It is in my last post on my blog! Xx
