Slices of bread smeared with peanut butter on one side and Nutella on the other topped with slices of bananas and toasted almonds. This peanut butter Nutella banana sandwich is the perfect dessert breakfast on the go.
Oh yes I did.
I know. I know. You’re probably thinking, “This is hardly a recipe.”
It’s not. Not really, anyway.
But it’s meant to inspire, and I wouldn’t share it with you if I didn’t absolutely love it, right?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an obsession with peanut butter and banana. It’s such a delicious combo: sweet, rich and healthy.
I grew up eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches for lunch. Seriously, the best lunch combo ever for a kid. Apparently, I don’t need much to please me.
I made Strawberry Banana Quesadillas awhile ago, and if you haven’t had a chance to try that, well, you totally should. =)
And months before that, there was a Strawberry Banana Smoothie topped with fresh bananas and granola. The peanut butter was in the smoothie. Ah-mazing.
And then there were also these Baked Chocolate Peanut Butter Pecan Banana Boats. It looks like one hot mess, but it tastes like a dream.
So you see? Peanut butter and banana go hand in hand.
Now, Nutella. Don’t even get me started with Nutella. How can you say no to hazelnut in cocoa? Well, unless you’re allergic, of course.
Nutella = Addictive
Nutella + Bananas = Heaven
Therefore, Nutella + Banana + Peanut Butter = Insanely Delicious
Um… Did I say I was never good at math? Obviously.
Although… Does anyone remember the Wayside School series? And if you do, do you remember Sideway Arithmetic from Wayside School, where elf + elf = fool? These were books I read in elementary school. Along with Nancy Drew, the Boxcar Children, the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Babysitter’s Club. I read. A lot. Still do. Like this.
This sandwich has the best of both worlds. Nutella on one side, peanut butter on the other, sliced bananas in the middle with toasted almonds.
Each bite is sweet and delicious. It’s perfect as a breakfast sandwich on the go. It’s not too heavy, and it’s fun to eat. Or, you can always serve one of these as afternoon snack.
Toast your bread. Slather each side with Nutella or peanut butter. Place slices of banana over the spread. Sprinkle on the almonds. Smush the two slices together. And you have yourself a sandwich.
Enjoy!

I love the combo of peanut butter, nutella, and banana! And I definitely read and loved all of those books, especially Wayside School series, Nancy Drew, and the Boxcar Children. 🙂

Okay, you had me at Nutella! And, you added bananas and PB, too? A triple threat! Your pictures are fantastic and the sandwiches are drool-worthy! I haven’t had Nutella in about 6 months because I’m trying to behave but there is some in my pantry at this moment, so maybe tomorrow I will give myself a little “treat” for being so good lately! The problem is I can never stop at just one spoonful.
Btw, I TOTALLY remember the Wayside School series! We must have both been born during the same era because Nancy Drew, the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Babysitter’s Club were all my favorite books, too! However, I don’t remember the Boxcar Children. Sounds interesting, though!

I’m so glad to discover that we have so much in common, Sara! The Boxcar Children series were a little older I think. And not as popular, but just as very good. And oh my god, your coconut flour shrimp looks soo amazing. I’ll have to give it a try soon!
