Slices of bread smeared with peanut butter on one side and Nutella on the other topped with slices of bananas and toasted almonds. This peanut butter Nutella banana sandwich is the perfect dessert breakfast on the go.
Oh yes I did.
I know. I know. You’re probably thinking, “This is hardly a recipe.”
It’s not. Not really, anyway.
But it’s meant to inspire, and I wouldn’t share it with you if I didn’t absolutely love it, right?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an obsession with peanut butter and banana. It’s such a delicious combo: sweet, rich and healthy.
I grew up eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches for lunch. Seriously, the best lunch combo ever for a kid. Apparently, I don’t need much to please me.
I made Strawberry Banana Quesadillas awhile ago, and if you haven’t had a chance to try that, well, you totally should. =)
And months before that, there was a Strawberry Banana Smoothie topped with fresh bananas and granola. The peanut butter was in the smoothie. Ah-mazing.
And then there were also these Baked Chocolate Peanut Butter Pecan Banana Boats. It looks like one hot mess, but it tastes like a dream.
So you see? Peanut butter and banana go hand in hand.
Now, Nutella. Don’t even get me started with Nutella. How can you say no to hazelnut in cocoa? Well, unless you’re allergic, of course.
Nutella = Addictive
Nutella + Bananas = Heaven
Therefore, Nutella + Banana + Peanut Butter = Insanely Delicious
Um… Did I say I was never good at math? Obviously.
Although… Does anyone remember the Wayside School series? And if you do, do you remember Sideway Arithmetic from Wayside School, where elf + elf = fool? These were books I read in elementary school. Along with Nancy Drew, the Boxcar Children, the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Babysitter’s Club. I read. A lot. Still do. Like this.
This sandwich has the best of both worlds. Nutella on one side, peanut butter on the other, sliced bananas in the middle with toasted almonds.
Each bite is sweet and delicious. It’s perfect as a breakfast sandwich on the go. It’s not too heavy, and it’s fun to eat. Or, you can always serve one of these as afternoon snack.
Toast your bread. Slather each side with Nutella or peanut butter. Place slices of banana over the spread. Sprinkle on the almonds. Smush the two slices together. And you have yourself a sandwich.
Enjoy!

You had me at NUTELLA. 🙂 This looks so yummy. I love Nutella and bananas together, and this sandwich takes that up a few notches!

This is one of my favorite combinations. I like to make it on challah bread and lightly grill it on the Cuisinart panini setting. So delicious!

I love peanut butter and banana and I love Nutella. Why have I not thought of this before? If you want to make this a little more decadent, I bet you could butter the bread and make a grilled sandwich… but it wouldn’t be very portable 🙂

Buttering the bread would definitely make this an indulgence. Not that it’s not already lol

Hi:
I also love peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I’ve tried nutella and don’t like it.
Have you tried peanut butter with honey on multi-grain bread?

Yeah. Peanut butter and honey tastes delicious. Use a thicker-sliced whole grain bread. Lightly toast it. Apply a generous layer of PB and drizzle with yummy honey… goes great with a glass of chilled goats milk and almond ice cream.

I haven’t tried peanut butter with honey before, but I should =)

Oh Andrea I never cease to be amazed with Americans weird tastes (by Australian standards!! lol)
Back in the mid 70s I relocated from Western Australia to Queensland, (west coast to east coast) and I was horrified to see school tuckshops serving up peanut butter and honey sandwiches.
Over 40 years later I still haven’t done a “taste test”!
And there is NO WAY I would ever taste test a “Peanut Butter Nutella Banana Toast Sandwiches” Sorry, but my reaction is YUK and double yuk. Have a tasty weekend !

I think it just depends on where we live. I know that there are foods in other countries that I could never imagine myself trying either. lol
