Classic ranch dressing made with buttermilk, mayo, and fresh chopped herbs. This herby buttermilk ranch dressing is simple to make and perfect on your favorite salad.
This past weekend has been relatively busy. Low key, but busy. I think with all the events that I’ve had on my schedule the last two months, it was just nice to have a weekend that didn’t include a lot of plans. Lazy days, delicious food, good reads, and writing blog posts. It’s my kind of weekend. Lol. What did you do this past weekend?
There have been a few changes with my work schedule, longer work weeks, which makes working on this blog a little more difficult. So if you’re seeing slower responses, it is because of that. Working an extra day a week, making it a 5-6 days work week is starting to take a toll, especially while trying to keep up with regular blog postings. I’m doing my best to figure out a new normal to balance everything out. That said, there are so many recipes that I’m waiting to share with you. And I hope you’ll like them as much as I do.
First up, this herby buttermilk ranch dressing. I know, I know. It’s not very exciting. But, you need a few dressings in your repertoire for those days when you want to elevate your salad. Buttermilk ranch dressing was my first love when it comes to dressing up my salads. It was my go to salad dressing for years before I discovered just exactly how exciting and vibrant salads could be.
What I love about salads is that there are so many ways to dress it up. Whether it’s the fresh and bright ingredients that make the salad so visually appealing to the variety of salad dressings that you can use lightly or liberally.
When you’re making your own buttermilk ranch dressing, you can change the consistency. If you like your dressing thicker, add more mayo. If you like your dressing thinner, add more buttermilk. Either way you can customize it however you like.
In a small bowl, whisk together buttermilk and mayo until combined.
Chop up your favorite herbs. I like to use dill, parsley, and sometimes basil and mint. Stir the herbs into the ranch dressing until incorporated.
Refrigerate the buttermilk ranch dressing for at least 15-20 minutes to let the dressing thicken.
Serve the herby buttermilk ranch dressing with your favorite salad.
Enjoy!

I am happy to have this recipe as I want to duplicate a salad I recently had and it was dressed with a buttermilk dressing. I think this one would work.
