Loaf bread filled with semi sweet chocolate chips and a hint of matcha green tea. This matcha green tea chocolate chip bread is delicious and great for breakfast.
Happy Sunday!
I’m hoping you’re enjoying your weekend so far. I’m so glad that the weekend doesn’t end with today. I love long weekends because when Mondays come around, I can still sleep in. Plus, the work week is feels much shorter with one less day. =)
I’m actually headed down south to Monterey to visit a friend today, but I’m hoping it’ll warm up just a little bit so I can take walks on the beach without freezing. My plans today include: picking strawberries, indulging in pies, and satisfying clam chowder cravings. What are your plans for this weekend?
In the mean time, let’s talk about this matcha green tea chocolate chip bread.
I told you I was on a matcha green tea hype. lol. Don’t worry. It’ll be over soon.
If you’re looking for a unique breakfast or snack that’s not too sweet and perfect with your morning coffee or tea, then this matcha green tea chocolate chip bread would be perfect for you.
This loaf bread is filled with semi sweet chocolate chips and hints of matcha green tea. It’s the perfect balance between sweet and bitter, and I can’t wait for you to try it. Bring it to work for a breakfast on the go, or as a late afternoon snack. Either way, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
Preheat the oven to 350F. Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray or with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine all purpose flour, matcha powder, and baking soda until well incorporated.
In a medium sized mixing bowl, whisk together egg, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until combined. Pour in buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, then mix until incorporated.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and mix with a spatula until well combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the loaf pan. Add extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
Bake the bread for about 40-45 minutes. Test the bread for its readiness by inserting a clean toothpick through the center. If the toothpick comes out clean, the bread is done.
Allow the matcha green tea chocolate chip to cool down for several minutes before slicing.
Serve the matcha green tea chocolate chip warm or cold.

Lovely photos! Looks like you’ve got good quality matcha. I have started using matcha just now. Made a pavlova – success! Check it out on my blog, if you like.
