Freshly squeezed blood orange juice mixed with vodka then topped with sparkling soda and crushed ice. This blood orange vodka soda is simple and the perfect drink for celebrating.
Happy Valentine’s Day Eve!
I’m a little early, but I thought we could celebrate Valentine’s Day with this bright and festive cocktail infused with my favorite winter citrus: blood oranges.
Just a couple of week ago, we were at my cousin’s bachelorette party in Las Vegas, mixing drinks in our suites. It was mostly either pineapple juice or orange juice with vodka. We kept it as basic as possible. But I wanted to take that idea and give it a festive twist.
Can we talk about this blood orange vodka soda? I’m soo obsessed with its simplicity.
Wouldn’t it would be fun to have a cocktail that’s simple to make with just a few ingredients? Ingredients that you’re likely to already have on hand? Something you can quickly put together for a date night, for a mini party, for a girl’s night in?
But I wanted to take this cocktail to the next level, and what better way than to switch orange juice with blood orange juice? Blood oranges are my favorite during the winter. It’s sweet, slightly tart, and just sooo good. Then when you top this cocktail with club soda, you add the bubbly factor to this drink too, which I absolutely love.
In a large glass, mix together freshly squeezed blood orange juice with vodka. You can add more or less vodka depending on how strong you like your cocktails.
Add simple syrup if you like your drinks sweeter. To make the simple syrup, add sugar and water in equal ratios into a pan over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved. Store leftover simple syrup in the fridge.
Pour the blood orange vodka mixture into two smaller glasses. Top each of the glasses with sparkling club soda. You can use unflavored club soda, or you can use lime club soda to give your drink an even more citrusy taste. Top each of the glasses with crushed ice and garnish with slices of freshly cut blood oranges.
Serve this blood orange vodka soda cold.
Enjoy!

It looks soooo delicious! Thank you for sharing 🙂 One small question, but do you also have an alternative with blood orange but without alcohol?

Substitute with lemonade or just add more club soda
