A few months ago, we bought a ton of saltine crackers. We were told that it helps when your stomach is upset. But we accidentally bought three boxes of saltine crackers because none us consulted each other so we had no idea that the other had already bought a box. Now, with all the saltine crackers waiting to be eaten, I wanted to do something with them that would bring them to the next level.

In a large ziploc bag or vegetable bag, add onion powder, garlic powder, ranch dressing mix, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Shake the bag to make sure that all the spices are completely mixed. Pour in the olive oil or vegetable oil. You want to use an oil that is mild in flavor. If the oil is strong in flavor, it would overwhelm all the spices.

Shake the bag to make sure that the seasonings are well incorporated in the olive oil. Add saltine crackers to the bag, and shake until all the crackers are well coated with the olive oil and spices.

Let the crackers soak in the seasoning for at least a half hour. The longer the crackers sit, the more flavorful they will be.

Preheat the oven to 275F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place all the crackers on the baking sheet. It doesn’t have to be a single layer.

What an interesting idea. I would of thought the crackers were just get soggy with the oil soaking. Wow. I could see trying all kinds of spice combos. Thanks.
