Fresh sweet strawberries covered with melted chocolate and marshmallows between graham crackers. These chocolate covered strawberries s’mores are the ultimate summer treats.
This post is actually prescheduled while I’m vacationing in Napa. Super excited to see wine country for the first time. A little sad considering that I live like an hour away. I’ll be sure to share pictures when I get back. In the mean time, you can see updates by following me on Instagram. =)
How can summer be complete without s’mores?
Actually, is s’mores an American thing? I’ve always thought that peanut butter and jelly was a common thing, but after I posted my Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast recipe, I realized that it’s not. Is it the same with s’mores?
Anyway, I can’t even begin to tell you how in love I am with this version of s’mores.
Each bite is bursting with the sweet juiciness of strawberries, the decadence of melted chocolate, and the sweetness of melted marshmallows, all sandwiched between two graham crackers.
The addition of sweet seasonal strawberries is a tasty twist to a childhood favorite. All you really have to do is find a way to melt the chocolate and marshmallows. Use whatever is most convenient for you.
Grill? Go ahead. Oven? Sure. Microwave? Why not. Campfire? Even better.
I personally used an oven.
Preheat the oven to 350F. Place the s’mores onto the baking sheet. I stacked chocolate on top of one graham cracker and placed thinly sliced strawberries on top. Then on the other graham cracker I placed the marshmallow. If you can balance everything on top of each other, bonus points! I definitely couldn’t. So I separated them and put them together as soon as they come out of the oven.
Isn’t it gorgeous? The strawberries sink into the chocolate!
I can sit here and overindulge in these.
Hope you like them!
- 1 graham cracker, broken in half
- 1 large marshmallow
- 1-2 large strawberries, sliced thinly
- half of 6 oz chocolate bar
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Place chocolate on one half of the graham crackers then top with sliced strawberries.
- Place marshmallow on the other half of the graham.
- Place both halves onto a baking sheet.
- Bake the s'mores for about 5 minutes until the chocolate and marshmallow has melted.
- Put both halves together.
- Serve warm.

We were camping in Maine last week, and my boys were picking wild blueberries everywhere we went. Naturally, we tried putting them inside our s’mores. We LOVED them. They added a nice bright flavor to the smoky marshmallow and the creamy chocolate.

Definitely an American tradition! My kids have only been introduced to Smores since we emigrated to the US and they are very happy to have encountered the tradition. We eat them as dessert after barbecuing. I have a tendency to burn the marshmallows though. I LOVE the idea of adding strawberries into the mix. I am sure my husband will want to cling to the traditional version but I think I can persuade at least half of our kids to try this. Thanks for the idea!

I want to eat that picture!! Great recipe. I love S’mores. I think it is an American thing. I have not heard of other countries having it. I could be wrong though.
