A 4 ingredient latte filled with steamed milk, matcha green tea powder, and condensed milk. This matcha green tea latte is delicious and takes only a few minutes to make.
I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve been in the kitchen creating recipes and sharing them with you. With all the things that have been happening, it’s been a little hard to keep up with everything else. But today, I want to share with you this matcha green tea latte.
Two weeks ago, I was in Oakland keeping my sister company while she took the Bar exam. Since I’m usually off on Wednesdays, I could stay the night and buy food for her, that way she wouldn’t have to worry about what to eat
While exploring downtown Oakland, I came across EndGame Cafe, which had the most amazing matcha green tea latte. And I knew that I had to figure out to make my own at home. Although I loved EndGame Cafe’s version, I wasn’t planning to travel to Oakland every time I had a craving.
Tea has a special meaning for me.
I grew up drinking and tasting all sorts of teas. My grandma had so many different types in her cabinet. Many are gifts from friends from far away places. I learned at a really young age to love tea.
So today’s matcha green tea latte is dedicated to my grandma. Even though to be honest, this matcha green tea latte is much too “Americanized” for her taste. She prefers Asian teas with nothing added. And most of the time, so do I.
In a small mug, add matcha green tea powder and hot water. Mix until the matcha green tea is completely dissolved and there are no clumps of green tea powder left. Add condensed milk to the mug, and mix until well incorporated.
In a small pot, warm the milk over low heat for a few minutes. Slowly pour the milk into the mug. The milk should froth a little on it’s own. But I bought a cheap milk frother awhile back and love using it to create a frothy top to my hot chocolates, and now lattes. Gently mix until the green tea is incorporated with the milk.
Sprinkle just a little matcha green tea powder on top, and serve the matcha green tea latte warm.
Enjoy!

Lovely version of a matcha latte, Andrea. You can let your grandmother know that matcha lattes have become very Japanese. They are absolutely everywhere in Kyoto, both hot and iced. In fact if it’s possible to add matcha to it, the Japanese have. So not entirely American at all 🙂

I love matcha tea lattes, but I’ve never thought to add condensed milk. I may have to try this for my next one!

I am wary about trying out matcha green tea though I love jasmine and mint green teas. Is matcha any good? The health benefits apart…

If you like jasmine, I think you’ll like matcha. It’s not floral, but a little more earthy. Hope that helps!

I love that this is dedicated to your grandma- what sweet memories you have with tea and her! I will be trying this out as soon as possible. I’ve always wanted to try a matcha green tea latte but never gotten around to it!

I love Match Lattes! The recipe that I do at home is with vanilla and sugar. But I’ll definitely try with condensed milk. The one problem is what will I do with the rest of the can. Being Brazilian, an open can of condensed milk is dangerous! We are notorious for eating it straight from the can.

I’ll have to try it with vanilla! And omg, I’m addicted to condensed milk too!

Looks yum!
