A 4 ingredient latte filled with steamed milk, matcha green tea powder, and condensed milk. This matcha green tea latte is delicious and takes only a few minutes to make.
I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve been in the kitchen creating recipes and sharing them with you. With all the things that have been happening, it’s been a little hard to keep up with everything else. But today, I want to share with you this matcha green tea latte.
Two weeks ago, I was in Oakland keeping my sister company while she took the Bar exam. Since I’m usually off on Wednesdays, I could stay the night and buy food for her, that way she wouldn’t have to worry about what to eat
While exploring downtown Oakland, I came across EndGame Cafe, which had the most amazing matcha green tea latte. And I knew that I had to figure out to make my own at home. Although I loved EndGame Cafe’s version, I wasn’t planning to travel to Oakland every time I had a craving.
Tea has a special meaning for me.
I grew up drinking and tasting all sorts of teas. My grandma had so many different types in her cabinet. Many are gifts from friends from far away places. I learned at a really young age to love tea.
So today’s matcha green tea latte is dedicated to my grandma. Even though to be honest, this matcha green tea latte is much too “Americanized” for her taste. She prefers Asian teas with nothing added. And most of the time, so do I.
In a small mug, add matcha green tea powder and hot water. Mix until the matcha green tea is completely dissolved and there are no clumps of green tea powder left. Add condensed milk to the mug, and mix until well incorporated.
In a small pot, warm the milk over low heat for a few minutes. Slowly pour the milk into the mug. The milk should froth a little on it’s own. But I bought a cheap milk frother awhile back and love using it to create a frothy top to my hot chocolates, and now lattes. Gently mix until the green tea is incorporated with the milk.
Sprinkle just a little matcha green tea powder on top, and serve the matcha green tea latte warm.
Enjoy!
