I am so obsessed with spring because of all the pretty colorful flowers in bloom. It’s been raining so much these past few months so the arrival of spring is definitely welcomed. So many flowers like lilies, tulips, and ranunculus are in bloom now.
But cherry blossoms are one of my favorites.
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Golden Gate Park, and they are especially gorgeous in the Japanese Tea Garden. If you’re in the San Francisco area, you should definitely make it a priority to visit the Japanese Tea Garden while the cherry blossoms are still in bloom.
It’s been really difficult to do normal every day things lately, and even more so right after my grandma’s funeral. I think part of it is that prior to the ceremony, it was easy to pretend that none of it had happened. But during and after the ceremony, it became a reality.
Normally, on my day off, I would go shopping for ingredients, create dishes, plate them, and photograph them. But lately, I just haven’t had the inspiration. It’s been so hard to get back into routine. And I needed to do something different.
I seriously love the koi fish!
My sister and I both had last Wednesday off, so we went to Golden Gate Park and then out to lunch. I needed an escape. And the Japanese Tea Garden felt like the perfect place for it. Since I went early in the morning, right when they opened, it was quiet and serene, for the most part.
Isn’t the Japanese Tea Garden so pretty? Have you been before? And what is your favorite local getaway spot? I would love to hear from you!
Currently my daughter is in Japan teaching in the JET Program and I believe she is the happiest she has ever been. She is very much in love with Japanese culture and exploring all the unique parts of Japan that feature the Cherry Blossom Festivals.
It sounds amazing. I’ve heard great things about the JET program and wish that I did it back in college.
this place is so beautiful!
Lovely photos
Thanks!
hi andrea, i love this article. i love all your pics here. the japanese tea garden is lovely and inspiring. hope i can visit it someday. 🙂
The Japanese Tea Garden is one of my most favorite places, but I’ve never been there for the cherry blossoms. The nearby Botanical Garden is also a marvelous place to wander and feel connected to nature. I spent an entire afternoon there last August.
I’ll have to go back to the Botanical Garden!
Beautiful photographs! I loved the Japanese tea garden and used to enjoy tea and Japanese cookies there occasionally. I lived in Berkeley for a couple of years and would go to the Golden Gate Park whenever I could.
I actually haven’t had tea and cookies there yet. But I’ll have to remedy that soon!
That is a beautiful place. I’ve always enjoyed it when visiting Golden Gate Park.
What a beautiful post! Cherry blossums are amazing. Thank you for sharing.
I am sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Death is hard. No doubt about it. But what a beautiful place to rest and give your soul a little peace. It’s been awhile since I last had tea at the Japanese Tea Garden. Thanks for reminding me. I’ll take my grandchildren there this week sometime. What a treat!
Did you end up going to the Japanese Tea Garden? It’s so pretty right now!
Yes we did. The grandchildren especially enjoyed the bridge, as children do. The blooms were lovely and the tea and treats expensive as ever.
Been to this place its really awesome !
