Happy Weekend!
I thought I’d start the weekend off with a giveaway!
A few weeks ago, I started my blogging tips series to celebrate my one year blog anniversary. I’ve noticed so many people interested in this series that I decided to do a giveaway as one, a belated one year celebration, and two, to give readers a chance to learn how to grow their blog through a different point of view.
We all have difference experiences with our blogs. What might work well for me might not work for you. We write about different things with our signature voice even if it’s the same general topic. For instance, many of us write about food, but what is our main focus? Baking? Quick and easy? Vegan? Gluten-free? It’s important for us to discover what our passion is and learn how to develop our blog from there.
I’m very excited to announce to you that Abby from Just a Girl and Her Blog is generously giving away a copy of her book, Building a Framework: Everything I Learned My First Year of Blogging, to one of my readers.
I think you would love reading this book. It’s filled with so much information about blogging.
Some of the topics Abby covers are similar to my experiences and what I’ve mentioned in my Blogging Tips series. But her experiences are different from mine, especially since we blog in different niches.
Abby is a DIY blogger focused on crafting, home décor, recipes, organization, and so much more. Some topics that she covers in detail in her book are:
- How to start a blog
- What good content is
- Why it’s important to connect to other bloggers and how to go about doing it
- The different types of social media
- How to earn money
- How to grow your blog
I really think that Abby’s book will be helpful for those who are just starting to blog. Her book provides insight on how to develop your blog’s potential.
If you’d like to buy a copy of Building a Framework e-book, head over to Just a Girl and Her Blog, or you can enter in the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win a copy!
Sometimes the Rafflecopter takes a bit to load so be patient.
Oh! And before I forget, this is open to everyone =)
Good luck!

Awesome giveaway! I am new to blogging, but enjoying it. I want to build up my blog through traveling next year, and your tips have been inspiring. I would like to learn more about SEO though beyond my own trial and error.
Thanks!

Thanks, Jordan! After all this time, I’m still learning about SEO. But I think the most important thing is focus on a few choice words. What do you think people are going to look for? What will they search in Google or Yahoo or Bing or whatever browser they’re using?
Then what you need to do is focus on those keywords. Make sure that it appears in your URL, in your content, in your title, in your description. The more it shows through out your post (within reason, of course), the easier it is for it to come up in searches.
I hope that helps!

Hi Andrea, thanks for this, I am getting a lot out of this series.
Also, would you be able to tell me what the widget or plugin you are using for your little LIKE button at the bottom of posts. I had one similar to this on my .com site, but now that I have migrated to the self hosting site, i am having trouble finding it. thanks – Nancy

Hi! Everything that looks like wordpress.com is through Jetpack. If you haven’t downloaded Jetpack yet, download that plugin. Go to settings and activate the features that you want. I recommend activating most of them if you like the wordpress.com format. The “like” feature is one of them =)
