Oh, the joys of a long weekend!
My cousin just graduated this last Friday from SFSU, and although she was the one who graduated, I was utterly exhausted by the end of the day. I don’t think we got home from the ceremony and the after graduation late night dinner until nearly midnight. So I’m kind of glad to have a long weekend to recover from the festivities.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. This whole month was filled with graduations. And I just wanted to share with you a little peek into my life.
In early May, we attended my sister Angela’s graduation from law school at Davies Symphony Hall. After the ceremony, we went out as a family to eat Korean food.
The following day, my youngest sister Victoria graduated from SF City College in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Studies program. The culinary students even prepared a reception for the guests. So impressive.
Of course, we had to celebrate with more food so we went to Moonstar buffet for lunch.
This last weekend, my cousin Cindy graduated from SF State University. Their graduation took place at AT&T park, which I’ve never been before so it was definitely an experience. We ordered Gilroy garlic fries to keep ourselves occupied through all their speakers. But their commencement address speaker was Jonas Rivera, a Pixar film producer of Up and Inside Out. How cool is that?
Of course, in between graduations, there were a lot of macaron ice cream sandwiches.
Visits to the farmer’s market.
Hopefully your May was fun as mine! But now, it’s so hard to go back to work!
What did you do this Memorial Day weekend?
Those macaroon ice cream sandwiches look amazing!
What great photos, lovely memories & wow to those ice-cream sandwiches right? Great post☀️
So many graduates! Congrats to them! Also those ice cream sandwiches are giving me life!
Congratulations on your youngest sister graduation
Thank you!
You sure have been busy! Congratulations to all. And how about a recipe for those garlic fires?
working on it! =)
Your family had much to celebrate. Nothing more worthwhile than education! Your photos cause me to miss my home state. I especially liked the macaron ice cream sandwich and farmer’s market photos! I am a CA native, away a long time. Keep those photos coming.

You parents must be so proud to produce such well educated, attractive, and professional kids. Congrats! =)
They pretty much have all of their bases covered now for their culinary, dentistry, and legal needs. 😉
Having a graduation in an outdoor professional sports stadium looks cool.
Where did you find those sandwiches?! Must try them…
My Memorial Day weekend has been way lazier than yours! I’ve laid pretty low. I did find a couple local food gems – Tadu Ethiopian and Shakedown Ice Cream in the Tenderloin. Have you tried either? Shakedown had been on my list for a bit and was as good as I’d hoped! Tadu was amazing, too 🙂
I haven’t tried either of them! It’s going on my Yelp bookmark list! the ice cream sandwiches are actually from Van’s Bakery in San Jose. They only sell those ice cream sandwiches during the weekend and they sell out fast! If it’s too far to travel for macaron ice cream sandwich, you can try Ketsourine Macarons at Westlake Shopping Center in Daly City. They have great macaron ice cream sandwiches, but the flavors aren’t as unique.
Ooh good to know. I do love the unique flavors but I’m car-less and never end up in San Jose!
I love the idea of a macaron ice cream sandwiches :O Why oh why don’t we have these in Estonia?
Maybe you can make some? =)
Perhaps in a very distant future. I am terrible when it comes to baking stuff, so I haven’t even dared to think about attempting macarons :p
Delicious food! And congrats to your family. 👍🏻
