I have friends who always seem to have everything they want, or can buy what they want. So buying gifts for their birthdays or for Christmas can be sooo difficult. Gift cards seem impersonal. Taking them out to dinner doesn’t seem special enough since we do it all the time. So what would be the perfect gift?
I thought maybe this.
I love terrariums. There’s something about the simplicity of air plants and mosses inside a glass globe that’s so pretty. I especially love the ones in the tear drop shaped glass. Usually, I just buy the terrariums already styled and give them out as gifts.
But this time, I thought maybe I could style them myself and give it a little personal touch. So I bought a kit from Air Plant Design Studios and decided on a seaside version of a terrarium. It’s the perfect gift for birthdays, Mother’s Day, or other special occasions. And it doesn’t take long to put together at all.
Now, if only I can keep these plants thriving until they’re ready to be given away…

Your terrarium idea is outstanding! We have a lot of seashells and glass bowls. I may have to try this with the grandkids one day soon. Terrariums are such fun to plant. Thank you. Also enjoyed your recipe list and am checking out that mango pudding next.

Coincidentally, we are trying to create centerpieces similar to your creation for my daughter’s wedding. We bought the small round vases for less than two dollars each at a craft store. Yours turned out great!

loved the globe and the sprouts and banana ideas sounded great. Someone famous once said ‘life is too short to stuff a mushroom’ at least I think it was a mushroom, but I read your blog as much as an aesthetic experience…love it ….keep going Ann

I have the same dilemma with gift giving. I remember when I was an aupair my host mom told me, she stands firm that one should not give a gift to somebody who can afford it. I would interpret it as cheap gifts! 🙂 With my husband, we both have problems about gifts before because the recent gift should outweigh the previous one’s. But I guess we learned its the thought that matter’s now.
Your idea is really beautiful! The

Thank you so much! I always feel it’s weird not to give someone a gift if they give you something. So I feel like I have to give something, and so I try to make something if I can.

It’s a beautiful gift! Now if only I could find someone preparing these in India…sigh! 🙂
