Wallflower Weekly Finds, 57

These chocolates! How gorgeous is this box of chocolate?

I love getting boxed chocolates, but I never want to eat them because they’re so pretty!

Do you have favorite chocolates?

This week’s finds include:

You know how during Girl Scout Cookie season it’s terrifying to walk down the streets because you know that you’ll run into cute little Girl Scouts selling cookies? And you know that if a little girl asks you to buy cookies, more likely than not, you’re going to buy those cookies. And if you’re like me, you’re probably not buying just one box. You’re going to stockpile the cookies so that they’ll last you until the next season… Well, if your favorite Girl Scout cookies are thin mints, you can totally make your own homemade thin mint cookies. Yay!

I’m a huge fan of quiche. You’ve seen a few on my blog already. It’s such an easy meal. Especially if you freeze them for dinner on those lazy nights where you don’t want to cook. I have plenty of those nights. =) So when I saw this Goat Cheese Spinach Sun Dried Tomato Quiche, I knew it’ll be a dish I want to try soon.

Oh my god. Pistachio Ice Cream with Nutella Fudge Swirls. For reals, if it weren’t so cold in SF, I’d be making this right now. Or maybe I’ll make it anyway. Because ice cream melts slower when it’s cold, right?

How amazing do these Lobster Corn Fritters with Truffle Herb Mayo look? I know it’ll totally impress my family and friends. Lucky for me, I got a bottle of Black Truffle salt for Christmas. Yay!

This Smoky Harissa Red Pepper Carrot Soup sounds so flavorful!

Irish Ale Potato Cheddar Soup with Beer Battered Leeks. This soup sounds so comforting for the cold weather.

This broccoli rabe burrata pizza looks soo amazing and delish! I could totally eat this every night.

I’m in love with eating rice bowls and quinoa bowls. They taste soo amazing. Especially since they’re loaded with ingredients. So of course, I want to give this Bitchin’ California Bowl a try. I swear, that’s the name of the bowl!

While I know not everyone loves Brussels sprouts, I’m a fan of them. So when I stumbled across this Spicy Asian Brussels Sprouts, I knew I had to add it to my list of dishes to make.

Can you imagine waking up in the morning to this Banana Bread Griddle Cakes with Caramelized Bananas and Walnuts? So drool worthy.

You know I have an obsession with chipotle so of course I want to give these chipotle sofritas tortilla casserole a try!

Well, I lived in Belgium for many years, so I got spoiled on chocolates. They really have the best. Very strict rules about what qualifies as chocolate and all that jazz. There was a big debate in our office about Wittamer vs. Pierre Marcolini, two chocolatiers across from each other at the Grand Sablon in Brussels. Wittamer is very traditional; Marcolini’s shop there is like walking into a cross between a luxury jeweler and an exclusive night club, with the chocolates displayed in glass boxes, like so many diamonds.
Of course, there are other big names: Godiva, Galler, Leonidas, Neuhaus, not to mention the tiny, single-location shops, very artisanal. They all have different styles. My personal favorite is Corné, because of the creamy, mousse-like insides. They melt in your mouth and make a person go weak at the knees. I do not want fruit or tea or anything mixed with my chocolate. The only thing I want with my chocolate is more chocolate.
All that said, I practically fainted in ecstasy when a friend sent me a couple of boxes of Thin Mints a week ago.

OMG! Where am I going that I haven’t yet seen any Girl Scouts selling cookies? Hello, I’m missing Thin Mint season!!! They weren’t at my grocery store, drug store, gas station, post office or the library! Nor have they been out in my neighborhood selling door to door. Where are they?

For the record…I have never met a box of chocolates I thought was too pretty to try. I’m a hopeless, non recoverable chocoholic. I confess. If it’s chocolate I’ll try it. 🙂

    Great finds this week!

They are so pretty but I would look at them and then have to eat them all! Perhaps that’s why my husband doesn’t buy me chocolate! Your blog is so fresh and colourful I think you can have a few naughty things …:)
