It’s summer! Finally, summer! Are you excited as I am?
If you haven’t noticed yet, most of my current recipes are summer oriented. =) I really couldn’t resist.
Peaches and strawberries are my favorite summer fruits. Watermelons are too. So be on the lookout for them. If you haven’t tried my Strawberry Peach Smoothie, give it a try today, or tomorrow!
In the next two months, I have so many tentative plans, but unfortunately not all of them are fun and relaxing. More on that later. What are your plans? I’d love to hear from you. =)
Let’s see… What has happened since the last time I updated?
One of my closest friends returned from New York for a few weeks for the summer. We met for lunch to catch up. If you’re in San Francisco, and you’re looking for a delicious place for brunch, I highly recommend Sweet Maple. They’re famous for their Millionaire’s Bacon, which is seasoned with maple syrup, brown sugar, and red and black better and baked in the oven for 4 hours. It’s so worth it to try for the flavor, but definitely a splurge.
What did I order? The Dungeness Crab Panini. So very tasty with huge pieces of crab meat and tiger prawns. My friend got the Blackstone Benedict, which includes the Millionaire’s bacon. I ordered that the first time we went and opted to try something else this time.
My sister’s birthday and Father’s Day landed on the same day this year. We celebrated with Peach Mousse Cake from Schubert’s Bakery and a seafood dinner at home. My dad’s cooking. Not mine. He loves to cook.
In less than a month, I’m scheduled to take my Dental Hygiene licensing exam. And I am terrified. I mentioned previously that I was “Desperately Seeking Patients.” Unfortunately, I still am. It’s not as if we haven’t had a steady stream of people who are interested in being our patients for the exam. Yesterday, we had around 40 people scheduled, but only two might qualify. It’s not easy to find patients who haven’t had a cleaning in years, with enough buildup on their teeth, and have little to no cavities or restorations. It is the most frustrating process ever. And just because we, as students and our instructors, believe that the patient meets all the requirements, on the exam day, the examiners may think the complete opposite. If that’s the case, we have to scramble to find a backup patient. During which our testing time has already started. Without the “perfect” patient, the exam becomes so much more difficult.
Afterwards, we’re considering going to LA for a few days for a little “foodie” trip before we all go back to school or work. We also have our grandmother’s birthday dinner, which is big every year. Imagine every family member flying in from all over for this dinner. I’ll share some pictures around then. =)
I’m also thinking about moving my blog to self hosting. I want more freedom to customize my blog to exactly how I want it. But I’m still debating over the idea.
What are your summer plans?
Oh! I promised a few readers that I’d post a photo of myself in my pink dress from my friend’s wedding in the Davis Wedding post. I rarely post photos of myself because I’m usually taking the pictures. Plus, I’m not good at posing! I’m always awkward. lol. And can you believe I worked so hard to curl my hair that morning? Hair spray could not hold my hair in curls. It’ll always straighten itself.
Here is a photo of me with my friend Emily from Emily’s Daily.
Until next time!
~ Andrea

Best of luck finding patients and on taking your exam! You’ll do great! That’s a nice pic, and I feel your pain because my hair never curled either. Or did anything interesting. I got tired of it and cut it all off lol.
This summer I’m planning to have fun with the kids with beach days, farm days, water guns, parks, playdates, and more. We’ll probably make a few road trips to see family, but nothing major. I’m trying not to get in the cycle of drying out/overwatering my container garden, but with the past two hot days I’m slightly failing there already.

Thank you so much! Your summer sounds fun! I think life can be fun with all the little things. It doesn’t have to be a major vacation. We’re going to LA this summer with nothing planned except food! We have a long list of restaurants and dessert places we want to visit. And nothing else.
