Soft and buttery Neapolitan sugar cookies flavored with vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and matcha powder. These matcha chocolate Neapolitan sugar cookies are multi-flavored and perfect for dessert.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ tablespoons matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
For rolling
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat. Set the baking sheet aside for now.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and granulated sugar until they are smooth. Next, add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, and mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough into three equal portions. I obviously am not good at dividing them equally. Lol. Add cocoa powder to one bowl, matcha powder to the next, and leave one with just vanilla.
  6. Take ½ tablespoon of each dough and combine the dough by rolling them into a ball.
  7. Roll the cookie dough balls in a bowl of sugar until the entire ball is coated.
  8. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between each ball. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, until the edges of the cookies are golden brown. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Serve the matcha chocolate Neapolitan sugar cookies.
