Banana Cake with Nutella Buttercream Frosting

Moist banana cake topped with a creamy nutella buttercream frosting and a generous amount of sprinkles, perfect for all occasions. This banana cake with nutella buttercream frosting is delicious and so simple to make.
Ingredients
Banana Cake
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large bananas, mashed
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
Nutella Buttercream Frosting
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ⅓ cup Nutella or hazelnut spread
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Lightly grease a 9x13inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or olive oil. Set aside for now.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until combined. Set aside for now.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, beat together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Then beat in eggs and vanilla extract. Then add mashed bananas and Greek yogurt, and beat until well combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. And mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the banana cake batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake the banana cake for 28-30 minutes until the edges and top turn lightly browned. Insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done.
  6. Let the banana cake cool for several minutes before slicing.
  7. To make the nutella buttercream frosting, use a hand mixer to beat the butter, powdered sugar, Nutella, milk, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy.
  8. Use a spatula to spread the nutella buttercream frosting over the banana cake. You can either slice the banana cake prior to spreading the frosting on top or spread the frosting onto each individual slice.
  9. Serve the banana cake with nutella buttercream frosting with a pinch of sprinkles on top.
