Noodles tossed in a simple brown butter garlic sauce with melted parmesan cheese. This brown butter parmesan garlic pasta is simple, delicious, and uses pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
  • 8 oz or ½ pound spaghetti or other long pasta
  • Water for boiling pasta
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • 5-6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grounded black pepper
  • ½ cup reserved pasta water
  • ¾ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Crushed red pepper to taste
  • More parmesan cheese for serving
  • Basil for garnish (optional)
Directions:
  1. In a medium sized pot, heat water and cook pasta according to the directions on the package. Drain the pasta and reserve about half a cup of pasta water for the sauce. Run the pasta through cold water to prevent it from sticking to each other. Set aside for now.
  2. In a large skillet, add butter over low to medium heat. Once the butter has melted and browned, add minced garlic and fresh grounded black pepper and cook until aromatic and the garlic becomes golden brown.
  3. Add the pasta to the skillet and toss to coat with the brown butter garlic sauce.
  4. Add about a ⅓ of the pasta water.
  5. Then add the shredded parmesan cheese. Toss to coat all the pasta with the parmesan cheese and allow the cheese to melt. Add more pasta water if needed. Season with salt and crushed red pepper.
  6. Serve the brown butter parmesan garlic pasta with more parmesan cheese on top. Add basil for garnish and flavor if desired.
