Fudgy brownies drizzled with a generous amount of salted caramel. These salted caramel brownies are chewy on the edges and fudgy in the center, the perfect dessert for sharing.
Ingredients
¾ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
2 ounces good quality semi sweet chocolate, chopped
1½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
3 large eggs, room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup cocoa powder
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 ounce good quality semi sweet chocolate, chopped
Salted caramel for drizzling
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350F. Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside for now.
In a microwave safe bowl, add butter and 2 ounces of chopped chocolate. Melt in 30 second increments, mixing after each, until completely smooth and melted. Whisk in granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined. Then whisk in the eggs and the vanilla extract until combined.
Add cocoa powder, all purpose flour, salt and the remaining chopped chocolate. Fold the ingredients with a spatula or a wooden spoon until combined. The batter will be thick. Spread the batter evenly on the baking pan.
Bake for about 25-28 minutes. Test the brownies for readiness by inserting a toothpick in the center. If the toothpick comes out mostly clean, the brownies are done. If the toothpick looks wet with batter, bake the brownies and check every minute or two until the toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Remove the brownies from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares. You can either drizzle the salted caramel before cutting or drizzle the salted caramel on each individual brownie bar before serving.
Serve the salted caramel brownies warm.
