Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies

Soft chewy cookies filled with milk chocolate chips and dried cherries. These cherry chocolate chip cookies are easy to make and perfect as a snack for roadtrips.
Ingredients
  • 1¾ cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking sodaa
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 10 tablespoons butter
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 yolk
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup dried cherries, chopped
Directions:
  1. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a medium sized mixing bowl. Set aside for now.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter until soft and creamy. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, and beat until well incorporated. Next, beat in a large egg and an egg yolk and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, and mix until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and the chopped dried cherries.
  4. Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate the cookie dough for about an hour.
  5. When ready to make the cookies, preheat the oven to 350F.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silcone baking mat. Scoop about 1½ -2 tablespoons of cookie dough and roll into a ball.
  7. Bake the cookies for 10-13 minutes until the edges are lightly brown and crispy. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for several minutes before transferring the cookies to a cooling rack.
  8. Store the cherry chocolate chip cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
