It’s been soo long since my last acai bowl. I have to remedy that now.

Two summers ago, I was absolutely obsessed with acai bowls. I think I had one almost every week. I love the colors, the flavors, the freshness of the toppings, and of course, the ease of customizing your own bowl at home. But somehow with everything else going on, and all the foods I’ve tried, I haven’t made an acai bowl in a long while. It’s time to fix that =)

With just a few weeks until summer officially begins, we totally need something amazing to start our day. I mean, can you imagine waking up to one of these bowls?

Okay, maybe not first thing in the morning. It might be way too cold, especially when you live in a foggy overcast city like San Francisco. But… it’s definitely perfect for brunch! You know, my often elusive favorite meal of the day?

Acai bowls are super easy to make. All it really requires is the gathering of a few ingredients and blending them together until it’s smooth and thick. Then of course, the fun part: topping the bowls with your favorite nuts and fruits.

Have you tried buying acai bowls recently? They’re sometimes overpriced and come in small portions.  But sooo good, right?

So I love that I can make my own. That way I can customize the ingredients and toppings to suit my current cravings.

Here’s my latest.

Blend two packs of frozen acai puree with strawberries, orange juice, half a frozen banana, and half an avocado until smooth. Then pour it into a bowl.

I’ve always used Sambazon acai puree for my acai bowls. I store them in the freezer for whenever I have a craving for an acai bowl. This isn’t a sponsored post. I just really like them. You can use whatever brand of acai puree you can find. =)

I always keep peeled chopped bananas in the freezer for smoothies. Frozen bananas thicken smoothies and it’s the secret ingredient to “nice” cream. You want to make sure the bananas are peeled before you freeze them. It’s ridiculously hard to remove the peel from a frozen banana. Trust me, I’ve done it.

If you like your acai bowl to be thicker in texture, you can blend in another half of a frozen banana or place your bowl in the freezer for a little while.

Top your acai bowl with your favorite ingredients. I topped mine with sunflower seeds, almonds, strawberries, blackberries, and chia seeds.
