As you’re reading this, I’m actually vacationing in New Orleans for my cousin’s wedding. I’ll share photos with you when I come back from my trip.

In the mean time, let’s talk about pies.

As the days get darker, and colder, I figured we’d need pie to keep us warm until spring arrives.

We’ve all had apple pie at one time or another. It’s a classic we can’t resist. The sweet and tart apples, the crispness of the apples even after baked, the warm flavor of cinnamon and nutmeg. The flavors are so amazing and unforgettable. And even with apple pie, there are so many different types and styles.

So how can you make apple pie even more amazing than it already is?

By adding cranberries.

Just a handful of cranberries add more depth to the pie, more festive colors. You still have the flavors of apple pie, but now it’s perfect for serving during the holidays.

Each bite is filled with cinnamon-y crispy apples and tart cranberries. So delicious.

And if you’re like me, you’ll want to decorate the top of the pie.

There are so many different ways to be creative. You can make the classic ruffled edge pie. You can make a lattice pie. Or you can be like me, and buy pie crust cutters because you really really want your pies to look like there’s a layer of leaves on top. The set came with pumpkin, more leaves, and acorns. I had a little too much fun with them as you can see =)
