Matcha flavored cookie bars filled with chocolate chip cookies. These green tea chocolate chip cookie bars are soft and chewy and great for gifting!
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons green tea powder
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 yolk
  • 1½ tablespoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Line a 9x13inch baking pan with aluminum foil with the ends hanging over the sides for easy removal or lightly grease the surface of the baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or olive oil.
  2. In a large sized mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and green tea powder.
  3. In medium mixing bowl, Whisk together melted butter and brown sugar. Once combined, whisk in a large whole egg plus an extra yolk, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Evenly spread the batter into the baking pan. Bake for 32-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out relatively clean when inserted. Remove the baking pan from the oven and allow the cookie bars to cool before cutting into them. Otherwise, the cookie bars will fall apart.
  6. Store the green tea chocolate chip cookie bars in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for up to a week.
  7. Serve these green tea chocolate chip cookie bars warm.
