Wallflower Weekly Finds, 136

The last several days have been tough for those living in Northern California. You may have heard that our state has been fighting wildfires since Sunday night. It has been so devastating for everyone here. While San Francisco is not in the wildfire area, we are getting the smoke and ashes from the north. The air quality is so bad at times that you see many people walking around the streets with masks on. And for those of us who are not personally affected by the wildfires, we all know someone who is.

Right now, we’re trying to figure out ways to help our neighbors to the north. And it has been difficult and heartbreaking to think that this is our new normal. Even now, after so many days, the fires are still burning strong.

These ideas all sound so delicious! I’m based in Orkney, Scotland and have friends affected by the fires in Napa. My husband and I were very lucky to visit last year. We are thinking of our friends and all those affected and hope the fires get under control soon.

I love the look of those chicken nachos. I make nachos as laid back family party food but that recipe seems like it kicks them up a notch. I think I might make that chocolate chip cake this week too. Thanks for the links.

I am so sorry about the fires devastating your region. It’s heart breaking and must be so distressing for those who have lost property and obviously horribly traumatic and tragic for those who have lost loved ones. Stay safe.

Hi Andrea. I am from Fort McMurray and I empathize with your worry and concern regarding the wildfires in California. We were very fortunate and most of our city was saved from “the beast”, the wildfire that ripped through our city last year. Life does go on, but many here are still struggling with insurance companies. I am holding the people of California in my thoughts and prayers. Wildfires are extremely unpredictable and very frightening. I pray everyone receives whatever they may need. Stay healthy and stay safe!

Hi Andrea, these recipes sound delicious! Thanks for sharing them. I’m sorry for the smoke condition in San Francisco where you are located. I’ve visited there many times. It’s beautiful. The awful destruction caused by these fires in California is devastating, along with the ives that have been lost. So sad. I pray they can get them under control. Now! Be well. Thanks for the post with yummy recipes.
