I cannot believe it’s already June!

It definitely doesn’t feel like it in the city. I still see overcast skies and foggy days. But it’s the norm for San Francisco. Drive a few miles outside of the city and you’ll find sunshine and warmth. And summer days.

Just a month ago (seriously, how can a month already go by so fast?), we were in Denver, indulging in all sorts of food. One of my favorite mixed drinks was a grapefruit hibiscus lemonade that I ordered with my dinner. So of course, as soon as I could, I went off to recreate the recipe.

Sweet and tart, this grapefruit hibiscus lemonade is delicious and absolutely refreshing. It’s easy to make and perfect for serving at BBQs, picnics, and summer gathering. Plus, that shade of pink is so gorgeous for summer.

All you need is hibiscus tea, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, and sugar or a sweetener of your choice. For the grapefruit juice, you can use either freshly squeezed or store bought, it’s up to you. And you can always add more sweetener if you prefer your beverages sweeter.

In a small pot, heat water until it comes to a boil. Once the water comes to a boil, remove the pot from heat, and add a hibiscus tea bag and a little bit of sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Allow the hibiscus tea to steep for about 3-4 minutes before removing the teabag.

Allow the hibiscus tea to cool down to room temperature. Pour the hibiscus tea, grapefruit juice, and lemon juice into a pitcher, and stir to incorporate the drink.

Serve the grapefruit hibiscus lemonade topped with crushed ice and mint as garnish.

Enjoy!
